Entrance, tickets, and time needed
Da’ao Fishing Village Cultural Village is in Dongping Town, Yangdong District. Use the visitor centre and main gate archway as the usual entrance. Entering the village, walking the old street, and visiting the fishing-culture museum are normally free and need no reservation. The village can be entered all day, but shops usually operate 09:00–18:00 and indoor spaces follow their own opening notices.
The core village is small and takes about 1.5–2 hours to walk. It is a short cultural stop on the Dongping coast rather than a large theme park. For a half day or full day, combine it with Pearl Bay, Feilong Temple, or a meal in Dongping Town.
A working residential village
Da’ao is still home to local residents. Its stone lanes and Tanka-style houses are not a film set. Stay on public paths and in open museums; do not enter homes, backyards, or closed rooms. Ask before photographing people or daily life, keep your voice down, and give residents space to pass.

Old street, homes, and guild hall
The roughly 380-metre Ming- and Qing-era stone street has former shop-and-home Tanka houses, showing the scale and everyday layout of a fishing settlement. Da’ao Guild Hall and Qingyan Tower are worth viewing from outside. Check signs before entering any interior; not every historic building is open.
The fishing-culture museum displays fishing tools, a traditional sailing-boat model, and local wedding customs. It suits family learning and visitors interested in coastal life. Zheng He’s statue and the seafront boardwalk can be short additions, but check wind, sun, and walkway access when you arrive.
Who it suits
The village suits history-minded visitors, families, and travellers who enjoy a slow walk through a small working settlement. It also fits before lunch in Dongping Town. If you want large attractions, long beach time, or a busy night scene, spend the main part of the day elsewhere.
Build your day
A 1.5–2 hour village route
Enter through the main archway, follow the stone street to Da’ao Guild Hall, then visit the fishing-culture museum if it is open. Finish at Zheng He’s statue or an open coastal viewpoint. The paving can be uneven; watch for residents and vehicles, and do not block narrow lanes for photos.
This route is best in the morning or early afternoon. If an indoor space is closed, use the public lanes and building exteriors instead. Do not cross barriers or enter places marked for residents, repairs, or restricted access.
A Dongping half-day or full-day route
Visit Da’ao in the morning, eat in Dongping Town at midday, then choose Pearl Bay or Feilong Temple according to the weather. If you plan to visit the wind farm ridge, calculate the mountain road, visibility, and descent time separately; do not add it after the village as a night-time stop just because it is nearby.
Da’ao, beaches, and temples have different tickets and opening rules. If you link several stops in one day, check parking and the return route first, and leave room for holiday traffic.
Get there
High-speed rail and local travel
Public transport to Da’ao is inconvenient. Travel first to Yangjiang Station, then take a taxi or arrange a vehicle to Dongping. Within town, use a taxi or a properly rented electric two-wheeler. With children, older adults, or luggage, confirm that your vehicle can stop safely near the visitor centre.
Driving and parking
Drive to “Da’ao Fishing Village Visitor Centre”, where the village has a public car park. Roads and spaces can become congested on holidays, so arrive early. Park and walk in; do not drive into narrow old streets or residential areas.
Know before you go
Paving, weather, and resident privacy
The old street has stone paving, and the coast has strong sun, so wear flat shoes with good grip and bring sun protection. Residents still live here. Follow local notices when taking photos, filming, using a drone, or stopping for a long time; doorways, drying areas, and home interiors are not public scenery.
Holiday traffic can fill the car park and lead to restrictions at the village entrance. If roads are busy, park where permitted and walk. Do not block the village road, shopfronts, or residents’ entrances in an attempt to save a few minutes.
Food and expectations
Restaurant choices and hours inside the old street can change. Confirm price, weight, unit, and preparation fee before buying seafood or ordering processing. For a more reliable meal, visit a clearly priced restaurant in Dongping Town after the village rather than forcing lunch into the old street.
Da’ao is best for a short look at the buildings, fishing-village life, and a coastal walk. Combine it with Pearl Bay, Feilong Temple, or Dongping Town for a fuller day. Do not allow too much time if you expect a large museum, every interior to be open, or evening entertainment.
