Plan at a glance
Coastline, entrances, and hours
Shili Silver Beach is in the Poly Silver Beach area of Hailing Island. The coastline is about 16.5 kilometres long, with several public beach entrances near the Poly area, hotels, and the museum. Access is free and no reservation is required. There is no single ticket gate; the coast can be entered all day, but lighting is limited at night, so plan the main activities in daylight.
Allow 1–2 hours for a walk, sea views, and playing near the shore. Half a day works well with the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. If you want a slower walk, photos, and a meal, allow a full day, but do not treat walking the entire coastline as the goal.
Safety boundaries at the beach
Shili Silver Beach is for walking, watching the tide, and playing near the water’s edge, not for a universally managed swimming experience. Some areas may have currents, and waves, tides, and beach conditions change. If you want to swim, choose a clearly managed and open bathing area instead of entering deep water here.

Long beach and museum combination
The appeal is the open coastline and the slower pace. In clear weather, walk a section of sand and look at the rocks and tide line. Sunrise colours and sea light depend on the day’s clouds and tide, so treat them as possibilities rather than guarantees.
The Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum is nearby, making it easy to combine an indoor visit with a beach walk. The museum is the steadier option in heat, rain, or strong wind; return to the coast when conditions improve instead of waiting for hours on an exposed beach.
Who it suits
Shili Silver Beach suits travellers who enjoy coastal walks, families with children who want to play on the sand, and visitors looking for a slower island stop. With young children, stay on dry, level sand and watch the changing waterline. Anyone looking for swimming, water sports, or nightlife should choose a managed facility or town area instead.
Build your day
A half-day beach and museum route
Visit Shili Silver Beach in the cooler morning or late afternoon, then go to the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. The museum has a last-entry time, so check that you can arrive on time before deciding how long to stay on the beach.
Beach time is best spent walking a section, resting, and looking out to sea; you do not need to walk from one entrance to another. Avoid wet rocks, soft sand, standing water, and vehicle areas after low tide. Do not cross barriers or approach breaking waves for a photo.
A relaxed island day
If the weather and light are suitable, make a short morning beach visit and then go to the museum. Return to Shili Silver Beach in the afternoon or continue to Zhapo for a meal. This avoids a long midday exposure while keeping an alternative if the weather changes.
If you also visit Dajiao Bay, keep Shili Silver Beach as a short walk-and-view stop rather than changing clothes and rushing between two coasts. Shili Silver Beach does not provide Dajiao Bay’s swimming function, and the safety and ticket rules must remain separate.
Get there
High-speed rail and island transport
A taxi or shared ride from Yangjiang Station to Shili Silver Beach usually takes about 40 minutes. From accommodation in the Silver Beach area, a short taxi ride or electric two-wheeler is practical. From Zhapo, allow extra time for holiday traffic and the return range of a rental bike.
Driving and parking
Drive to “Shili Silver Beach” or to a specific hotel or museum-side entrance. There are several parking options, but hotel and restaurant rules differ. Confirm the open area and price before leaving the car, and do not drive onto soft sand, low beach ground, or a route needed by pedestrians.
Know before you go
Tides, water, and night risks
Deep-water swimming is not appropriate in areas without lifeguard management. Do not stay near the water during strong waves, thunderstorms, or a rising tide. Low tide may expose tidal flats and rocks, but the surface can be slippery and the water can return faster than expected; keep children on a safe part of the shore.
The beach has limited lighting at night. Do not plan tidal-flat walks, swimming, or rocky viewpoints after dark. When the light fades, leave the tide line and rocks before returning to the car or hotel; do not treat a quiet, rainy beach as a safer one.
Sun, supplies, and food
Shade and food outlets are unevenly distributed, so bring water, sun protection, and basic supplies. In summer, put long walks in the morning or evening and use the museum, hotel, or a meal break at midday. Shoes with good grip are safer than loose sandals on wet sand.
If you want seafood in Zhapo or nearby, confirm the price, weight, and preparation fee first. You do not need to chase a particular restaurant around the Silver Beach area; choose a clearly priced place that is convenient for your return.
