Location, scope, and opening pattern
Shaba Bay is in Shaba Town, Yangxi County. The cultural square, beach, and town streets are the main stopping points. The beach is free and does not require a reservation, while the streets can be explored all day. Cafés and some visitor facilities generally operate from 09:00–18:00, but individual businesses keep their own hours.
Shaba Bay combines a town, beach, seafood dining, and evening activity. It is not the same paid attraction as nearby Moon Bay. Allow half a day for a short stop, or one to two days if you want both bays, Beieling viewpoint, and an evening meal in Shaba Town.
Free beach and paid water areas
The public beaches at Shaba Bay and Moon Bay are free to enter, but paid swimming areas, water activities, life jackets, and resort services are separate. Whether swimming is appropriate depends on the specific area’s lifeguard arrangements, sea conditions, and notices that day. A free beach does not mean that the whole coastline is managed in the same way.

Shaba Town and the two bays
Shaba Bay is better for town walks, seafood, and a more local evening atmosphere, while Moon Bay is more focused on beach time and resort facilities. The drive between them is short, but their entrances, parking, accommodation, and water activities are not shared. One bay plus Shaba Town is enough for a complete coastal day.
Beieling viewpoint looks across both bays and can work well in the late afternoon when weather and visibility are suitable. Sunset, Ferris-wheel lights, and sea colour all depend on cloud and weather conditions, so treat them as possibilities rather than fixed items.
Who it suits
This area suits families, couples, seafood lovers, and travellers who want town life alongside a beach walk. With children, allow for sand play, drinking water, shade, and a break at the hotel. Anyone planning to swim or take part in water activities should check the opening and lifeguard arrangements of the specific paid area first.
Build your day
A half-day Shaba Bay route
Start near Shaba Bay Cultural Square, walk a section of public beach, then continue to Beieling viewpoint before returning to Shaba Town for dinner. The beach, viewpoint, and restaurants require short transfers, so choose the order according to traffic and parking rather than trying to follow a rigid sequence.
This route works for a short visit and does not depend on one café or temporary event. In high heat, rain, or low visibility, shorten the beach time and use the town for a meal and a rest instead.
A two-day two-bay visit
On day one, spend time at Moon Bay, visit Beieling for the view, and return to Shaba Town for the evening. On day two, choose an open coastal observation stop near Nanshanhai according to the tide, or walk around the Haizihu area. Do not add Qingzhou Island as a fixed stop before confirming whether construction and access allow it.
Shaba Bay and Moon Bay can be visited together, but they do not share a ticket, swimming area, or accommodation rules. If you only want an easy sea view, one bay and Shaba Town are enough; there is no need to rush between several beaches to make the trip feel “complete”.
Get there
High-speed rail and town transport
A taxi from Yangxi Station to Shaba Bay usually takes about 50 minutes. Tourist shuttles and local transfers may also be available. In town, walk, take a taxi, or rent an electric two-wheeler from a proper operator. Coastal roads can become slow during holidays, so check the bike condition, range, and return point before leaving.
Driving and parking
Drive to “Shaba Bay Cultural Square” or your accommodation. There are parking options near the square, market, and Moon Bay, but arrive early on holidays. Do not leave a car on low beach ground, in a narrow lane, or where it blocks residents.
Know before you go
Accommodation, sun, and tides
Shaba Town is convenient for food and evening walks, but rooms near the night market can stay noisy late. Moon Bay is quieter, though meals and supplies usually require a short ride. Check recent room conditions and transport location before booking rather than choosing only by a sea view or low price.
The coast has strong UV exposure and uneven shade and supplies, so bring water, sun protection, and comfortable shoes. Check the tide before a tidal-flat visit. Slippery rocks, rising water, and changing visibility may end the plan early; do not go to construction-affected places such as Qingzhou Island without confirmed access.
Seafood and spending
Before buying seafood or ordering preparation, confirm the species, weight, unit, and preparation fee. Avoid restaurants reached through roadside touts when the price or service is unclear. A clearly priced, convenient restaurant is enough.
