Entrance, ticket, and time
Three Gorges Grand Waterfall is in Group 4, Xinping Village, Huanghua Town, Yiling District. Navigate to “Three Gorges Grand Waterfall Visitor Center” or “Three Gorges Grand Waterfall Parking Lot 1.” Online admission is about CNY 105; opening hours are about 08:00–16:30, with entry stopping at 16:00. Ticket prices and the day's arrangement may change.
The visitor center is about 3 km from the core area, with a return attraction bus costing about CNY 20. Allow about 2.5–3.5 hours for a complete visit, especially if you plan to cross the spray zone, change clothes, and take photographs. A core visit without as much time in the water can be planned for about 1.5–2 hours.
Who it suits
The main waterfall and spray crossing suit families, couples, and visitors who enjoy a water-mist experience, but the crossing will leave you fully wet and surfaces are more slippery after rain or when the water is high. Anyone who is uncomfortable on wet paths can stop at the front viewpoint; the spray crossing is optional.

Main waterfall and spray zone
The main waterfall is about 102 metres high. The core experience is walking along the path toward the waterfall and passing through the spray zone where access is open. Water mist, sunlight, and the day's flow determine the feel and the photographs; a rainbow may appear in suitable conditions, but 14:00–16:00 is not a fixed viewing window.
Viewpoint and spray-cave angles
The front viewpoint is useful for an overall photograph before the crossing. Afterward, the spray zone offers a closer angle. The cliffside viewing elevator may open as an extra-charge option; price and availability follow the day.
Who should cross the spray zone
Visitors who enjoy water, accept getting wet, and are willing to bring spare clothes can make the crossing part of the main visit. If the priority is simply seeing the waterfall, or someone in the group is uncomfortable with slippery ground or getting wet, stay at the front viewpoints and protect phones and cameras with waterproof bags.
For the wider group of separate mountain attractions, see Xiaofeng Scenic Area.
Build your day
Complete experience route
Take the attraction bus from the visitor center to the main gate, then walk along the path to the waterfall. Photograph the full view from the front viewpoint first, follow the day's one-way route into the spray-crossing area, and return along the open route. Allow about 2.5–3.5 hours, including time to manage wet clothes and photographs afterward.
Quick photo route
Take the attraction bus to the gate, reduce time in the water, and focus on the front of the main waterfall and any open section of the spray zone. After the core photographs, return along the open route. Allow about 1.5–2 hours; if heavy rain, strong flow, or a closed spray zone changes the visit, stay with the front viewpoint and safe passage.
Attraction bus and walking
The attraction bus covers about 3 km on a return fare of about CNY 20. Walking can also reach the core area but adds time and exposed sections. The spray crossing, walkways, and spray zone still require walking; the bus does not take visitors directly beneath the waterfall.
Get there
Driving
The drive from central Yichang takes about 40 minutes. Navigate to the Three Gorges Grand Waterfall Visitor Center or Parking Lot 1. Parking is about CNY 10 per vehicle; spaces and charges follow the parking area's arrangement. Enter in the order of visitor center, attraction bus, and main gate.
Direct bus and public transport
Direct buses from the Three Gorges Visitor Center or Yichang East Railway Station take about 50 minutes, with a return fare of about CNY 35. A lower-cost route uses B100 from Yiling Square to Yiling Bus Station and then a Xiaofeng-bound minibus; arrange the transfer wait and return service separately.
Know before you go
Equipment for the crossing
Bring a raincoat, waterproof phone pouch, non-slip or stream shoes, a spare set of clothes, and a towel. Take the front-view photographs before entering the spray zone; clothes, shoes, and equipment will be affected by mist and spray, so protect phones and cameras.
Slippery surfaces and weather
Rain, high flow, or dense spray makes the walkway and the area near the spray zone more slippery. Follow the on-site boundary for pace and photography. Do not enter the Shuilian Dong (水帘洞) from the exit in the opposite direction, and do not cross barriers to approach falling water; stay out of areas closed that day.
Food and combinations
Farmhouse restaurants are available near the attraction and can be used before or after the visit. Three Gorges Grand Waterfall, Golden Lion Cave, and Three Gorges Ancient Military Village are separate Xiaofeng attractions; if combining them, order the day by each attraction's stop-entry time and choose according to the experiences you want.
