Plan at a glance
The stands, lake, and Helan Mountains
Lanshan Park is beside Yuehai Lake in Jinfeng District, Yinchuan. Its landmark is a fan-shaped, open-air amphitheatre inspired by a Roman arena. From the stands, you can look across Yuehai Lake toward the Helan Mountains. Visitors come for sunset, a walk, a performance, or a seasonal event. General park visits and ticketed events have different arrangements.
Allow time to wait and leave
If sunset is your main reason for visiting, arrive with time to find the entrance, check the steps and seating, and rest before the light changes. Sunset time varies through the year, while holidays and major events bring more visitors. Allow time to leave after taking photos or watching a show.

Choose your visit
See the architecture and city views
The fan-shaped stands open toward Yuehai Lake, with the Helan Mountains in the distance. Start with the view from higher up, then follow the walkways to look at the arches and columns. For photos, use the architecture to frame people, the lake, and the mountains at different depths. Keep steps and walkways clear, and do not stop where people are moving up or down.
Find a quiet place to watch sunset
On a clear evening, the light gradually moves across the stands, lake, and distant mountains. Sit at the side of the stands or in a quieter area, and bring water and a light jacket. Overcast or dusty weather can reduce visibility; there is no need to stay outside for a perfect sunset.
Attend a concert or performance
Lanshan Park has hosted sunset sing-alongs, music festivals, and large concerts. Events may have separate tickets, temporary transport, or restricted areas. If you are visiting for an event, check the organiser’s notice for the date, entry rules, closed areas, and post-show transport. For an ordinary park visit, you do not need to plan around an event schedule.
Visit with older adults or children
The stands have many steps, which can make the climb tiring. If you are with older adults, young children, or anyone with limited mobility, ask whether a ramp or accessible route is available. If there is no suitable route, enjoy the view from a lower area rather than attempting a climb or entering a managed area.
For shoreline walks and wetland views around Yuehai Lake, visit Yuehai National Wetland Park.
Build your day
Check the entrance and walking distance
Navigate to an open park entrance and estimate the walk and time needed for the steps. The main stands have 208 steps. If you are with older adults, children, or anyone with limited mobility, ask staff about an accessible route. Use marked paths rather than informal shortcuts.
Choose a viewing spot before sunset
Walk to the stands first and check the steps, walkways, and crowd flow before choosing where to stay. At busy times, pick a spot with a good view that does not block the route, and agree on a meeting point with your group. During a concert or sing-along, follow staff directions; viewing areas and performance areas may be different.
Leave after dark according to the day’s arrangements
The outlines of the stands, lake, and mountains continue to change as the sky darkens; stay for the blue hour if you wish. Lighting, how long you can remain, and event end times depend on the day’s notice. Check your return ride or the last bus in advance. Ride-hailing queues and road congestion may build after a performance.
Get there
The park is near Shenyang and Qinshui Roads
From Shenyang Road (沈阳路), continue west toward Lanshan East Street (览山东街) to reach the park. Set your destination to the park or an entrance open that day, then follow traffic directions. During events, temporary road closures or entrance changes may require a detour.
Check live bus routes before travelling
Bus stops and routes may change. Use Yinchuan Bus or a map app to check the day’s route to “览山公园” (Lanshan Park), the stop, and the last return service. Concerts may have special buses or shuttles, but these usually run only on event dates; do not rely on a past event route for an ordinary visit.
Avoid the post-event traffic peak
Before driving, check which car parks and entrances are open, the fees, and the walking distance. Traffic can build around sunset or after a large event. Agree on a ride-hailing pickup point in advance and do not get in or out in a crowded junction. If traffic is diverted, walk to the designated shuttle point as directed.
Know before you go
Park admission is free; events may be ticketed
Lanshan Park generally has free admission. Music festivals, concerts, and other special events may require a separate ticket or have different access arrangements. Decide whether you are visiting the park or attending an event, then check the open areas and entry rules for that day. Opening hours are posted in the park’s daily notice.
Prepare for the steps, weather, and evening chill
There are many steps at the stands, so wear comfortable shoes with good grip and rest when needed. The open area may still have strong sun in the evening; bring sun protection. It can feel cool after dark, so carry a light jacket. In strong winds, blowing sand, thunderstorms, or temporary event restrictions, follow the on-site notice.
