Plan at a glance
Choose one stretch of shoreline
Yuehai National Wetland Park is in Jinfeng District, Yinchuan. Its main features are the open lake, wetland plants, and places to relax by the water. You can walk along an open section of shore or join a seasonal boat or waterside activity. The nearby Lanshan Park, Water Park, and Flower Expo Park form the wider Yuehai Bay tourism area, but their entrances, activities, and transport connections differ. Decide which place you are visiting before setting out.
A half-day is easier than crossing the whole bay
If you want a lakeside walk, reed views, or sunset, choose an easy-to-reach spot and allow one or two hours. Add time if you plan to take a boat, visit Water Park, or join a seasonal activity. The lakefront area is large, and walking between different parts of it may take longer than expected. Avoid squeezing several parks and piers into a short visit.

Choose your visit
Watch wetland birds and plants
Yuehai is an important urban wetland in Yinchuan, with open water, mudflats, and vegetation along the shore. Take your time on the trails or open shoreline to look for birds and plants. The wetland is a wildlife habitat: observe from a distance, keep your voice low, and do not chase birds or enter closed conservation areas.
Take a boat or try a waterside activity
Sightseeing boats and other water activities have operated around Yuehai, but piers, routes, and services change with the season and operating arrangements. Before boarding, confirm the pier, departure time, whether you need a separate ticket, and where the route ends. Do not assume one boat ticket lets you get on and off freely between Lanshan Pier (览山码头), Huaxia Pier (华夏码头), or provides access to other parts of the tourism area.
Choose activities by season
In spring and summer, look for boat rides, waterside recreation, and lakeside walks. Autumn is a good time to see reeds and birds along the shore. Skiing, snow activities, and winter boat routes have operated in the past. Seasonal activities may not start on the same date each year, and water or weather conditions can affect service; check the latest notice before planning around one.
Go for a sunset walk
In the evening, walk along an open part of the shoreline and find a place where stopping is allowed. If you also want to climb the stands at Lanshan Park or attend a night event, check the entrances and transport connections for both places. “Yuehai Bay” covers several areas, and not every lakeshore connects directly to Lanshan Park on foot.
Build your day
Choose a specific entrance and walking area
On your map, select “Yuehai National Wetland Park” (阅海国家湿地公园), “Yuehai Bay Water Park” (阅海湾水上公园), or a specific pier, then check which part of the Yuehai Bay area your chosen destination is in. Once there, follow the guide map and open-area signs to choose your walking range. For a one- or two-hour visit, stay on a nearby section of shore instead of crossing several entrances to make a loop around the lake.
Check the route before boarding a boat
At the pier, confirm where to board, how long the trip takes, where you return, and the last departure. Arrange your shoreline walk before or after the boat ride. If the route is unclear or the service is suspended, take an open walking trail instead. Do not assume boats currently connect Lanshan Pier and Huaxia Pier or provide access to other parts of the tourism area.
Link sunset plans to your return
Choose a stretch of shore and check sunset time and nearby exits before staying into the evening. If there is a music event, light show, or night tour, follow its separate notice; the general park area and night-event grounds may differ. After leaving, plan how to reach Lanshan Park or central Yinchuan rather than relying on straight-line map distance.
Get there
Set your destination to the right part of Yuehai Bay
Yuehai National Wetland Park and Water Park are both around Yuehai Lake in Jinfeng District, but their entrances are spread out. Set your destination to the wetland entrance, pier, or waterside area you actually want to visit instead of searching only for “Yuehai Bay.” If travelling across Yuehai Bay, check both the drive and walking distance again.
Check live bus information
Routes and stops change with road and service arrangements. Before travelling, check Yinchuan Bus for the latest route, stop, and last return service, and confirm which stops serve your chosen area.
Plan parking and walking for the chosen entrance
Before driving, check whether a car park near your chosen entrance is open and whether it charges a fee. The lake’s circular greenway is long, so include the walk from your parking space in your timing. If you are travelling with children or older adults, or carrying camera equipment, choose an entrance closer to your stretch of shoreline to avoid crossing between different parts of the lakefront.
Know before you go
Check admission and activity charges separately
Entry arrangements and paid activities may differ between parks and activity areas. Check whether your chosen area charges admission or requires a reservation. Confirm prices and operating conditions for boats, rides, skiing, and other activities with the operator for that day.
Protect the wetland and follow on-site rules
Stay on open trails and do not walk into reed beds, feed birds, or disturb wildlife. Wind and temperatures can change quickly by the lake, so bring water and sun protection or warm clothing as needed. Follow staff instructions on boats and water activities. Services may be suspended during strong winds, icy conditions, or weather warnings.
