How to Visit
1

Come here when you want a quieter city break

Jin'e Mountain Park is more of an urban forest park than a first-stop Yueyang attraction. It works well after Yueyang Tower and Dongting Lake, when you want a walk, a bit of climbing, fewer crowds, or some quieter time in the itinerary.

Tip:Use it as a slower city break rather than a replacement for Yueyang Tower or Dongting Lake.
2

Enter from the east side for a smoother loop

If you want to see the main points, enter from the east gate or the Wenchang Pavilion side, then continue through Wenchang Pavilion, Jade Buddha Temple, Jin'e Academy, Zhou Yu's Tomb, and the Confucius Garden area before leaving toward the south gate.

Tip:This makes a light 2-3 hour walking loop without too much backtracking.
3

Use the main paths and bamboo areas if energy is limited

The park itself is free and the route is flexible. With children, older visitors, or anyone who does not want much climbing, skip the full loop and stay on the main paths, bamboo trails, and flatter sections.

Tip:A relaxed 1-2 hour version is enough if this is only a soft break in the day.
4

Prioritize Wenchang Pavilion and Jade Buddha Temple over the small zoo

Wenchang Pavilion is the main viewpoint for city and lake-direction views, while Jade Buddha Temple is better for a quiet walk. Some commercial areas and the small zoo receive mixed feedback, so do not make a special detour or pay extra just for them.

Tip:The park is stronger as a walking and viewpoint stop than as a collection of paid side attractions.
5

Do not rely on it as your main sunset spot

Jin'e Mountain has elevated views, but if your goal is a wide-open Dongting Lake sunset, Baling Square is usually more direct. Jin'e Mountain is better for morning or evening walks and escaping heat than for chasing Yueyang's best sunset view.

Tip:Choose Baling Square for a simple lake sunset, and choose Jin'e Mountain for a quieter park walk.
Highlights
  • Jin'e Mountain Park is a free and relatively quiet forest park within Yueyang city.
  • Wenchang Pavilion is the park's most representative high point, with views toward the city and Dongting Lake.
  • Jade Buddha Temple, Zhou Yu's Tomb, and bamboo trails make it more than a simple green space.
  • It is a good low-intensity walk after the crowds around Yueyang Tower.
  • The route can be long or short: a 2-3 hour loop or a relaxed 1-hour version both work.
Insider Tips

The park is free, but individual areas may have commercial charges or special entry rules, so check before going in.

If Jin'e Academy requires minimum spending or controlled entry, skip it unless you are genuinely interested.

The small zoo is not the main reason to visit, even with children.

The paths and steps are not extremely difficult, but comfortable non-slip shoes are still useful.

In summer, early morning or evening is more comfortable; midday can feel hot on the hill paths.
