Jade Ridge and mid-mountain views
The Jade Ridge (Yushi Liang) viewing platform is at 2,160 metres. A THAIWOO landmark stands nearby, with views of the surrounding mountains and wind turbines. The mid-mountain area has an alpine flower field and a giant headphones sculpture, both popular for photos. On a clear day, take wide landscape shots from the summit; toward evening, look for silhouettes of the lift against the mountain scenery.
Lift, trail, and mountain activities
The lift links the summit and mid-mountain stops, making it a practical choice if you want higher-altitude views without hiking the whole way. For more walking, try the R3 Forest Trail. Families can look into the children’s playground and deer-feeding experience; a reference price is CNY 99 for a package of 10 self-selected children’s activities. Check what is operating and included on the day before buying. Grass skiing and mountain go-karts are options if you prefer rides and activities.
Who will enjoy it
Thaiwoo suits landscape photographers, couples, and families with children. The horse-riding activity is a short ride with a staff member leading the horse. Pet policies vary between hotels and restaurants, so check with each venue before you go.
For another summer mountain outing nearby, see Genting Resort Secret Garden.
Build your day
A 2–3-hour lift visit
Take the lift from the resort village and stop at the Jade Ridge platform and THAIWOO landmark. On the way down, get off at the mid-mountain station to see the flower field and headphones sculpture, then return to the village. The lift runs in sections, so ticketing and queues affect the total time.
A full day with the forest trail
In the morning, take the lift to explore the summit and mid-mountain area. Have lunch at a summit or mid-mountain restaurant. In the afternoon, hike down the R3 Forest Trail if you have the energy; to reduce walking, return to the village and choose go-karts, grass skiing, or a family activity instead. At the end of the day, take a hotel shuttle back only after confirming its departure time.
Get there
Shuttle from Taizicheng Station
Take a high-speed train to Taizicheng Station, then use the free shuttle or a hotel bus to reach the resort; the drive takes about 10–15 minutes. Shuttle schedules and stops vary, so confirm the service with your hotel before travelling. You can also arrange a licensed vehicle in advance at the station.
Driving, parking, and taxis
Driving from Beijing takes about three hours. Traffic may build up on the final stretch after the expressway exit on weekends and public holidays, and parking at the resort can be tight, so arrive early if possible. The station is about 3.3 km from the resort village. A ride-hailing trip is around CNY 10–30 as a reference. Book through the platform and pay the fare shown on the order; do not accept an extra cash charge arranged outside the app.
Know before you go
Queues and activity prices
The lift, restaurants, and parking lots may all be busy on weekends and public holidays. If your schedule is flexible, visit the summit on a weekday. Reference prices include about CNY 100 for a round-trip sightseeing lift, CNY 58 for one grass-skiing session or CNY 100 for two, CNY 208 for a 20-minute led horse ride, and CNY 38 for the “Sky Mirror” photo spot. The Huayang Alpine Raft Ride is about CNY 98 and lasts around one minute per ride. Activities and prices can change; check the day’s information before purchasing.
Food and breaks
Prices in the resort village are relatively high: bottled water is about CNY 4.5, and a main meal typically costs CNY 150 or more per person. For a simpler meal, look for Luojin Canteen in the ski-equipment hall or Xiaofu Ji in Nanshanli. Other options include No. 3 Courtyard Hotpot, Xiaosuguan Lamb Spine, and QUARK Bar. KFC, McDonald’s, and some other shops may close early, so do not leave dinner too late.
Mountain weather and activity safety
Even in summer, the summit can be windy and cool down quickly. Bring a windproof layer and sun protection, and stay on open paths and viewing areas when taking photos. Before setting off on a mountain bike, check the brakes and tyres; ask for another bike if they look worn or anything seems wrong. Wear suitable walking shoes on the R3 trail and choose a descent that matches your fitness.
