Feishuitan is one stop inside Dinghu Mountain
Feishuitan Waterfall is inside Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area. The visit is mainly about the waterfall, a short streamside walk and water access where it is allowed on the day. It has no separate full-day ticket and is not an independent attraction that you can drive to directly from the foot of the mountain.
Allow 1–1.5 hours for Feishuitan alone. If you combine it with Baoding Garden, Butterfly Valley and Qingyun Temple, plan 3–5 hours for Dinghu Mountain. The listed opening hours are 08:00–18:00, with entry stopping around 17:30 and the sightseeing vehicle usually ending around 18:00.
The last section to the waterfall is on foot
From Qingyun Temple, the route down includes about 20–30 minutes of steps. If you want fewer steps, take the sightseeing vehicle to the Summer Resort stop and walk about 1.8 km on a flatter path. The vehicle does not stop beside the waterfall, so your knees, footwear and the weather all matter here.
Feishuitan is included in the Dinghu Mountain main ticket. Adult admission to Dinghu Mountain is listed at CNY 70, and the return sightseeing vehicle costs about CNY 20. The CNY 35 Butterfly Valley boat belongs to another section of the mountain and is optional for a Feishuitan visit.

About 1.5 hours: out and back from the Summer Resort stop
Take the sightseeing vehicle to the Summer Resort stop, walk about 1.8 km to Feishuitan, see the waterfall, then return to the vehicle. This route suits visitors who mainly want the waterfall or whose group cannot manage a long downhill staircase.
The flatter route has fewer steps, but it is not dry all the way. Bridges, rocks and water edges near the waterfall may be wet, so wear shoes with good grip. Whether and where you may enter the water depends on the day's on-site arrangements.
3–5 hours: add Feishuitan to the Dinghu Mountain route
Enter through the main gate, take the vehicle to Baoding Garden, continue through Butterfly Valley and Qingyun Temple, walk down to Feishuitan and leave by the vehicle from the Summer Resort stop. This connects the forest, temple and waterfall in one visit, but it adds both walking and downhill effort.
Turn back at Qingyun Temple if the steps are slippery after rain, someone has knee problems or the first half of the route has already used up the group's energy. Reaching Qingyun Temple is a sensible stopping point; forcing the descent is what can make the return late.
5–6 hours: from mountain paths to the stream
Fit hikers can walk from the main gate through Jiashatian, Hancui Bridge, Feishuitan, Xiangshuitan, Shuanghong Feiqian Bridge, Qingyun Temple and Baoding Garden. Feishuitan is only one stop on a continuous mountain route, so bring water, food and mosquito repellent before entering and start in the morning.
Do not start the full walk in rain or close to closing time. Rising water, slippery stone and standing water on bridges slow the route down; shorten the walk or return if conditions change.
Build your day
Flatter route: out and back from the Summer Resort stop
Main gate → sightseeing vehicle to the Summer Resort stop → walk about 1.8 km to Feishuitan → waterfall view and short stop → walk back → vehicle down. Check the day's vehicle service and return stop before leaving, so you are not back at the station with only one departure remaining.
Find a stable place to stand before taking photographs or approaching the water. Wet rocks, bridge edges and fast-moving water are not places to stop and pose.
Downhill from Qingyun Temple: direct, but harder on the legs
Main gate → sightseeing vehicle to Baoding Garden → Butterfly Valley → sightseeing vehicle to Qingyun Temple → temple visit → downhill path to Feishuitan → vehicle from the Summer Resort stop. The route connects naturally, but the section from Qingyun Temple to Feishuitan is the main physical test.
Return at Qingyun Temple after rain or when travelling with older adults or young children. If you do continue, wear shoes with good grip, walk slowly and leave time for the return after the waterfall.
Deep walking route: the waterfall is not the end
Main gate → Jiashatian → Hancui Bridge → Feishuitan → Xiangshuitan → Shuanghong Feiqian Bridge → Qingyun Temple → Baoding Garden → exit. The full route takes about 5–6 hours and is best for people with mountain-walking experience. Once you reach the stream, use the weather and remaining time to decide whether to continue; do not wait until dark to turn back.
There are few supply points on this route, so carry water and simple food. After Feishuitan, you still have bridges, the temple section and the exit route. Reaching the waterfall does not mean the day is over.
Get there
Reach Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area first
Drive to “Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area Parking Lot,” where parking is listed at about CNY 15–20 per day. Cars cannot enter the mountain, and the waterfall is not a normal road destination. From Zhaoqing East Railway Station, a taxi takes about 20 minutes; city buses 204, 205 and 21 serve the ticket area.
Visitors without a car should plan the city return together with the last sightseeing vehicle. Feishuitan is still a walk from the mountain gate, so leaving the water's edge near 18:00 may leave too little time for the vehicle and the onward trip.
Choose between the Summer Resort path and the temple descent
If you want fewer steps, choose the Summer Resort stop and walk about 1.8 km on the flatter path. If you want to connect the temple and stream, descend from Qingyun Temple. Both routes require walking; the vehicle ticket only removes one section.
Check the stop, direction and last-vehicle information after entering. If someone in your group is not joining the water stop, meet at the Summer Resort stop or the main gate, but do not send them alone into the slippery stream section where signal can be weak.
Know before you go
After rain, watch your footing
Bridges, steps and rocks beside the waterfall become slippery after rain, and water may cover the tops of your shoes. Wear shoes with good grip and bring sandals and spare clothes for water access. Do not wear footwear that can be washed away, and do not assume every pool below the waterfall is safe for swimming.
Whether you may enter the water, which section is permitted and whether rain has closed part of the route are decided on site. Keep farther from the water when the flow is strong, and supervise children at all times rather than judging depth from a photograph.
Water, mosquitoes and the last vehicle
There are few shops on Dinghu Mountain, and drinks and snacks may cost more than they do below the mountain. Bring them before walking to Feishuitan and carry mosquito repellent. The small food stalls along the route can supplement your supplies, but should not be your only plan.
Leave the Feishuitan direction by about 17:30 and work backward from the sightseeing vehicle's usual 18:00 finish. Rain, queues, photographs and collecting belongings all take time; turn back early if the weather worsens.
Do not force other Xinghu areas into the same day
Feishuitan Waterfall and Qingyun Temple are both inside Dinghu Mountain, and Feishuitan has no separate full-day ticket. Visit Seven Star Crags or Xinghu Wetland Park on another day, or recalculate the transport and walking from the start. Crossing to another area after leaving the waterfall usually turns the rest of the day into a race.
