Plan at a glance
Allow at least half a day for the bamboo forest
Guangning Bamboo Sea Grand View is in Nanjie Town, Guangning County. Use “Guangning Bamboo Sea Grand View” or “Suijiang Bamboo Sea Ecological Tourism Area” for navigation. Allow half a day to one day. Add Luoguo Old Street, the Gushui River or Maoliu Mountain and you can stay for two days and one night.
Opening hours are listed as 08:00–17:30, with entry beginning to close around 17:00. Arrive before 15:00 if possible. Adult admission is listed at about CNY 50, with online prices sometimes around CNY 25–30. The sightseeing vehicle costs about CNY 10, and the bamboo raft about CNY 30, but raft service depends on the water level.
Some facilities are old, and food and supplies are limited. Plan around the weather and your walking ability. There is no need to buy every activity just to complete the site; free alternatives nearby can provide a different kind of visit.

Two to three hours: bamboo paths and viewpoints
Entrance → Longgui Islet → Lingbo Boardwalk → bamboo raft, optional → Bamboo View Pavilion or Lingyun Pavilion → return. This suits visitors who have limited time and want a short forest and river outing.
The area is not very large, so walking is reasonable when the weather is mild. The raft takes about 30 minutes and may stop because of the water level; do not build the whole itinerary around a fixed departure.
Six to eight hours: bamboo sea, raft and old street
Walk through the bamboo forest in the morning, have a bamboo-themed lunch, take the raft in the afternoon, then visit Luoguo Old Street and the Bamboo View Tower. The forest needs outdoor walking, while the old street suits a slower look at lanes and bamboo culture.
The Bamboo View Tower is best visited when the weather is stable. Food options inside the scenic area are limited, so bring water and snacks and choose a nearby farm restaurant in advance for a proper meal.
A free alternative route
If you do not want to buy the scenic-area ticket, visit Luoguo Old Street, the free Bamboo View Tower or walk a short section of the Gushui River. Maintenance and access may vary by area, so follow the open and passable route on the day rather than treating it as an exact replacement for the paid park.
The recorded highlight section of the Gushui River and Maoliu Mountain is about 10 km and is much more demanding than walking the old street. With children or for a relaxed visit, choose Luoguo Old Street and a shorter river section instead of adding the long hike on impulse.
Build your day
Full-day route: bamboo forest in the morning, river in the afternoon
Entrance → Longgui Islet → Lingbo Boardwalk → Bamboo View Pavilion or Lingyun Pavilion → lunch → bamboo raft → Luoguo Old Street → Bamboo View Tower → return. Start with the more physical forest section, then put the raft and old street later in the day.
Check the water level and raft operation before leaving the forest. If the raft is suspended, use the Bamboo View Tower, Luoguo Old Street or a short Gushui River walk instead of spending the afternoon waiting at the pier.
Two-day route: separate the park and the surrounding hills
Day 1: Bamboo Sea Grand View and Luoguo Old Street, followed by an overnight stay. Day 2: Gushui River or Maoliu Mountain, then return. Maoliu Mountain has more climbing and a longer hike than the easy park paths.
If you stay near Emerald Bay, its resort facilities, wetland and paid activities are separate costs. Confirm what accommodation includes; do not assume hotel activities are part of the scenic-area ticket.
Family route: short paths and bamboo culture
Walk the bamboo forest and Lingbo Boardwalk in the morning, eat bamboo shoots and bamboo-tube rice for lunch, then visit Luoguo Old Street or a bamboo-weaving activity. If children tire, skip the raft or upper viewpoint and keep the focus on short walks and hands-on activities.
There are many mosquitoes and some older facilities. Long sleeves, long trousers and repellent matter more than adding another paid activity. Roast-lamb meals require a reservation, so do not assume a walk-in meal will be available.
Get there
Driving is the most practical option
The drive from the Pearl River Delta takes about 1.5–2.5 hours. Use the scenic-area parking lot; parking is listed at about CNY 10 per visit. From Guangning Railway Station, a taxi takes about 10 minutes. You can also travel to Guangning County first and continue by taxi.
From Zhaoqing city, taking a coach to Guangning County and then a taxi is more practical than relying on local buses. Confirm the return route after parking; public transport between the surrounding attractions is limited.
Choose between the vehicle and walking by weather
The sightseeing vehicle costs about CNY 10 per person. The area is small enough to walk when the weather is mild. In heat, rain or when travelling with someone who walks slowly, ask where the vehicle stops and whether the fare is per section before buying.
The bamboo raft costs about CNY 30 per person and takes around 30 minutes, but service depends on the water level. Ask about operation after entering, then decide whether to keep the afternoon for the water activity.
Know before you go
Mosquitoes, food and facility conditions
Mosquitoes are common in the bamboo forest. Wear long sleeves and trousers and bring strong repellent. Food choices inside are limited and may cost more than in town, so carry drinking water and snacks. A scenic-area restaurant or nearby farm restaurant is more suitable for a full meal.
Some facilities and paths are maintained only modestly, and bamboo paths can be slippery after rain. Wear shoes with good grip and follow barriers around damaged sections rather than taking an unopened path for a photograph.
Tickets and free alternatives
Adult admission is listed at about CNY 50, with online prices sometimes around CNY 25–30. The sightseeing vehicle costs about CNY 10 and the raft about CNY 30. Some areas can be visited without buying the main ticket, including Luoguo Old Street, the free Bamboo View Tower and parts of the Gushui River route. Access and maintenance should be judged on site.
If you mainly want bamboo scenery and an old street, there is no need to buy every activity. Check the weather, water level and your group’s energy first, then decide whether to add the raft, children’s park or other paid options.
