Enter in the morning and choose between the easier route and the walking route
The core waterfall is still some distance from the entrance. If your group has limited stamina, older travelers, or children, use the sightseeing bus to reduce walking. If you want to see Meiren Comb Waterfall, Hongyu Boardwalk, and the forest trail more slowly, choose some walking sections.
Make the main viewing platform and close waterfall area your priority
The main sight is the 76-meter-high and 80-meter-wide waterfall. The mist is strong at close range, and rainbows may appear on sunny days. If time is limited, you do not need to cover every side trail.
Decide whether the elevator is worth it for your group
The elevator is not required, but it reduces a steep stair section. It is useful for older travelers, children, visitors with knee issues, or anyone who wants to avoid too much climbing.
Allow 2.5-4 hours
An easier visit usually takes about 2.5-3 hours. Add walking and photo time, and it can take 3-4 hours. If you also plan to visit Swallow Rock or Bing'an Ancient Town that day, put the Great Waterfall first.

✦Prepare a raincoat in advance; buying one on-site usually means fewer choices and higher prices.
✦With older travelers or children, choose the sightseeing bus and elevator first instead of saving a small amount of money.
✦After rain, the waterfall is stronger, but boardwalks, stone steps, and wet areas require slow walking.
✦If you need to return to Zunyi or Guiyang the same day, do not leave the Great Waterfall too late.
