How to Visit
1

A Buyi village that works well near Huangguoshu

The ticket is CNY 25. The visitor center is some distance from the village entrance, and the sightseeing bus costs about CNY 20-30.

Tip:Gaodang fits better with Huangguoshu or Zhenning than as a standalone trip from Guiyang.
2

Decide whether to take the sightseeing bus by energy

Walking from the visitor center to the village entrance takes about 20 minutes. In hot weather, or with older visitors and children, the bus saves useful energy.

Tip:You still need to walk stone lanes and slopes later, so do not spend all your energy at the start.
3

Keep walking to reach the old village

Near the entrance, you first pass newer dining and guesthouse areas. The real stone village is farther inside.

Tip:If you stop only in the front section, you will miss the stone houses, old wells, fortified remains, and old lanes.
4

End around Suoluo Bridge

The deeper village area and Suoluo Bridge show the better mix of village scenery and surrounding mountains and water.

Tip:Stone paths become slippery after rain, so do not stand on wet edges just for photos.
Highlights
  • Gaodang is most distinctive for its stone houses, stone walls, stone roofs, and stone lanes.
  • Suoluo Bridge and the surrounding fields are good for seeing village and landscape together.
  • Buyi batik, weaving, and village life can add useful cultural context.
  • The village has a slower pace and feels quieter than large scenic areas.
  • It adds an ethnic-village layer to an Anshun itinerary.
Insider Tips

Do not expect a fully developed commercial ancient town; food and shop choices are limited.

The visitor center is not right at the old village, so do not force older visitors or children to skip the bus.

The core area has uneven ground, and anti-slip shoes matter on rainy days.

If you want a more reliable meal, return to Zhenning County for lunch or dinner.

Winter and low season are quiet here, which suits travelers who prefer calm places.
