How to Visit
1

Use it as a southwest-island sunset stop

Dishui Danping is on the southwest side of Weizhou Island. It does not charge a separate main entrance fee because it is included in the island entry ticket.

Tip:Plan it after you are already on Weizhou Island rather than as a separate destination from Beihai city.
2

Arrive by scooter or nearby stay

Renting an electric scooter is the easiest way to get there. If you stay near Dishui Village or Shiluokou, this works well as an evening walk.

Tip:Staying nearby reduces night riding after sunset.
3

Come after late afternoon light softens

Arrive after about 4:00 pm. See the reddish-brown cliff and beach first, then stay for sunset.

Tip:This timing gives you the cliff texture before the sun drops, then the evening color over the water.
4

Check the tide before going down

Check the tide before visiting. At low tide, the cliff, reefs, and beach are more complete; at high tide, the walkable area becomes smaller.

Tip:Tide timing affects both photos and how much of the beach you can safely use.
Highlights
  • Dishui Danping is better for sunset, reddish cliffs, and seaside portraits than for a heavy sightseeing route.
  • The cliff has volcanic and sea-eroded textures, giving it more color and layers than a normal beach.
  • At sunset, the sea, cliff, and silhouettes work well together, making it a good choice for your first or second evening on the island.
  • Accommodation and dining options nearby are convenient, so staying in this area reduces backtracking.
  • You can choose between Dishui Danping and Shiluokou for sunset, or visit both if you have enough time.
Insider Tips

If you want to photograph the cliff and beach, check both sunset time and low-tide time.

Reefs and wet areas can be slippery. If you wear a long dress for photos, watch the waves and uneven ground.

After sunset, many people leave at the same time. Ride slowly because island roads are darker than city roads.

This is a 1-2 hour evening stop. It does not need half a day.
