How to Visit
1

Treat it as an east-island sunrise stop

Wucai Beach is on the east side of Weizhou Island. It does not charge a separate main entrance fee because it is included in the island entry ticket.

Tip:It is most useful when you are already staying on the island and can arrive early.
2

Check sunrise and tide before leaving

The main reasons to come are sunrise and the volcanic rock platform exposed at low tide. Check the day's sunrise time and tide before leaving.

Tip:Good timing matters more here than at a normal beach.
3

Allow time from the entrance to the shore

From the entrance, you may still need to walk or take a shuttle to the core viewing area. A common shuttle fare is around CNY 10, so allow time to enter before sunrise.

Tip:Arriving at the gate at sunrise can still be too late for the best light.
4

Use the low-tide rock flats carefully

At low tide, walk toward the left-side rock flats for sea-eroded platforms, tide-pool reflections, and rock textures. At high tide, the scenery is much more ordinary.

Tip:Do not walk too close to the sea just for reflections because tide and waves can change quickly.
Highlights
  • Wucai Beach is Weizhou Island's best-known sunrise spot and is worth waking early for on a clear morning.
  • The volcanic rock platform, tide pools, and morning light are the main sights after the tide goes out.
  • The "colorful" effect depends heavily on light and angle. It is not visible like edited photos all day.
  • The rock flats are wide and better for landscape photos than for letting children run around.
  • If the weather is poor or the tide is high, keep expectations modest and treat it as a morning seaside walk.
Insider Tips

Non-slip shoes matter. Mossy rock surfaces are more dangerous than normal sand.

Do not walk too close to the sea just for reflections. Tide and waves can change quickly.

Sunrise is busy. Arrive earlier if you want cleaner photos.

If you want an easy beach visit and do not want to wake early, Wucai Beach may be less suitable than Dishui Danping or Shiluokou.
