Location, tickets and opening
Wudong Peak is at the top of the Fenghuang Mountain range, linked with the Phoenix Tianchi area. Adult admission is 40 CNY and children’s admission is 20 CNY; children below 1.2 metres enter free. The site is open 24 hours, but shops and service points are not.
Drive to Phoenix Tianchi Parking Lot or use the visitor bus from the transfer centre. Parking is especially tight during tea season and the azalea flowering period.

2–3 hours: Tianchi and alpine grassland
Walk from the ticket gate to Tianchi camping area and the viewing platform, then continue to the grassland. This suits visitors who want high-mountain views without camping.
Overnight: sunrise, stars and cloud sea
Arrive in the afternoon to camp or use a guesthouse, watch sunset, then climb to the sunrise viewpoint before dawn. This route suits photographers and campers who are prepared for cold and wet conditions.
Tea-travel route
Visit Phoenix Tianchi, Wudong Village’s old tea gardens, Da’an Ancient Tea Garden and the Phoenix Dancong Tea Museum before descending.
Build your day
Use clear-weather windows for the high ground
The Tianchi platform, grassland and rock formations are best when visibility is good. Around Wudong Peak, plan careful walking around features such as Crocodile Rock, Trial Sword Rock and Prince Cave.
Add tea gardens before descending
Wudong Village is a core production area for Phoenix Dancong tea, with tea-picking and processing activity in spring. Avoid putting long mountain transfers after dark.

Assess driving ability first
The newer road is wider but steep and can have access restrictions; Fengwu Road is narrow, winding and difficult to pass during tea season. New drivers should use the transfer-centre bus instead.
Know before you go
Camping and cold-weather planning
The campsite near the car park can be noisy. For a quieter night, choose a mountain guesthouse or a higher grassland site only if you can safely carry equipment and manage the night conditions. Bring warm layers and moisture protection.
Safety and aerial photography
Cloud sea is weather-dependent, not guaranteed. Sensitive facilities are present nearby, so follow local restrictions and do not fly or photograph freely with drones.
