How to Visit

Choose either the main gate or west gate for the Ancestral Temple Museum
Walk from Zumiao Station on the Guangfo Line. Use the main gate to follow the central axis through the archway, Jinxian Pool and Lingying Shrine; use the west gate if you prefer to begin near Confucius Garden. The adult ticket is CNY 20.
Tip:The two gates create different visiting orders, but both lead into the same ticketed museum grounds. Do not treat the Huang Feihong Memorial Hall or Lingnan Tiandi as alternative entrances that avoid the museum ticket.

Follow the main architectural route in one continuous walk
Visit Lingying Archway, Jinxian Pool, Wanfu Stage and Lingying Shrine in sequence, then look for roof ceramics and the brick, wood and stone carvings. Add Confucius Garden and Yip Man Hall if time allows.
Tip:This order works well before a performance, so you do not have to rush past the temple's most important buildings and stage. The paths are largely stone-paved and can be slippery after rain.

Use the outdoor martial arts lion-dance performance as your time anchor
The indoor Huang Feihong Memorial Hall is currently closed for air-conditioning works, but the outdoor lion-dance ground inside the Ancestral Temple still runs performances at 10:00-10:40, 14:15-14:55 and 15:30-16:10. Arrive about 20-30 minutes early.
Tip:Views become limited once the audience area fills. High-pole lion dance may be cancelled in rain, so avoid building an overly tight transfer around one performance.

Continue on foot from the temple area to Lingnan Tiandi
After the temple visit, allow another 2-3 hours for Lingnan Tiandi's lanes, food stops and historic buildings. If visiting only the Ancestral Temple, allow about 2-3 hours.
Tip:The two places are next to each other, but the temple is a ticketed museum with clearing times, while Lingnan Tiandi is an open district. Their visiting rules are not interchangeable.

- Roof ceramics and brick, wood and stone carvings offer a concentrated introduction to Shiwan craft and Lingnan building traditions.
- Wanfu Stage is a useful stop for understanding Cantonese opera; include it if a public performance is taking place.
- The outdoor martial arts lion-dance performance remains the clearest time-specific experience at present.
- Confucius Garden and Yip Man Hall can be added or skipped according to your available time.

✦The indoor Huang Feihong Memorial Hall is currently closed, so do not plan around its indoor displays.
✦Lion-dance times are the best anchors for the day; the first morning performance is usually easiest to pair with the temple route.
✦Keep a backup plan for rain, such as spending longer at the historic buildings, stage and nearby open district.
✦In summer, heat, mosquitoes and stone paths matter more than photo accessories; wear grippy flat shoes and bring water and insect repellent.
✦If driving, weekend parking and exit times can be unpredictable. The metro is usually more efficient.
