Scenic-area scope and ticket

Fujian Tulou Prince Scenic Area is in Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding District, Longyan, Fujian. Hongkeng Tulou Folk Culture Village and the Tulou Prince Scenic Area refer to the same larger visitor area. Zhencheng Building is the key single building within it, so these three pages should not be treated as three unrelated attractions to stack into one day.

The common single ticket is CNY 90. If you also visit the Tulou King Scenic Area around Gaobei, a common combined ticket costs CNY 98 and is valid for 3 days. The area is open all day, and 8:00–17:30 is the practical window for a daytime visit. A complete visit to Zhencheng, Qingcheng, Kuiju, and Fuyu Buildings usually takes 3–4 hours.

The visitor service centre is about 1 kilometre from the core tulou, or around a 15-minute walk. A sightseeing vehicle may be available for about CNY 5 per person. Vehicle availability, schedules, and evening programmes can change, so do not describe a shuttle or lighting activity as a fixed ticket inclusion.

Zhencheng, Kuiju, Fuyu, and Rusheng Buildings

Zhencheng Building is known for its bagua layout, earthen-and-timber outer ring, brick-and-timber inner ring, and Chinese-Western decorative details in the ancestral hall. Kuiju Building is built against the hillside, and its square form is best understood from below. Fuyu Building is a five-phoenix mansion-style square building with a sequence of courtyards. Rusheng Building is smaller and works well as a short stop for observing round-tulou scale.

The buildings share one visitor environment, but their highlights and access arrangements differ. Detailed discussion of Zhencheng Building belongs on its single-building page; this area page focuses on the overall route, movement, facilities, and ticket boundaries.

Who this suits

The area suits architecture enthusiasts, photographers, and families who want to compare several tulou forms in one village. There are many cobbled paths. Visitors who enjoy slow walking can complete more of the route, while older adults and children should use a confirmed transfer option when possible and avoid a long sequence of climbs.

Commercial facilities are more concentrated here, and some buildings have shops on the ground floor. Visitors who want a quieter look at the architecture can complete the main buildings first and decide later whether to eat or rest in the village. There is no need to change the route because someone at the entrance offers private guiding.

Build your day

About 2 hours: a quick route

Enter from the visitor service centre, walk or take the sightseeing vehicle to Zhencheng Building, complete the main building visit, and then continue to Rusheng Building for a look at a smaller round tulou before returning. With limited time, do not force every building into one route; keep Zhencheng and one square or small round building as the priorities.

The sightseeing vehicle only covers the transfer between the visitor centre and the core area. It does not replace every village walk. Confirm the return vehicle and the final walking distance before starting, especially if travelling with older adults, children, or large luggage.

About 3–4 hours: the complete route

For a first visit, use the sequence “visitor centre—Zhencheng Building—Qingcheng Building—Kuiju Building—Fuyu Building,” then decide whether your energy allows a stop at Rusheng Building. This lets Zhencheng provide the main architectural focus before the other buildings show different types of village construction.

Whether lighting, a theatre, or a folk programme runs in the evening depends on the day's arrangements. Do not compress the daytime architecture visit to fit a programme that has not been confirmed. If you plan to continue from Hongkeng to Gaobei, arrange the cross-area transport separately; the combined ticket does not imply free transfer.

An evening plan if you stay nearby

If you stay at a nearby guesthouse, use the day for the buildings and village paths, then return to permitted public areas in the evening to rest. Night lighting, performances, and resident explanations are not automatic rights attached to a ticket. Arrange the vehicle back to your accommodation in advance and do not look for one on a mountain road at night.

Get there

Driving and parking

Drivers can navigate to “Tulou Prince Parking Lot” or “Hongkeng Tulou Folk Culture Village Parking Lot.” Parking commonly costs about CNY 10 per visit. The visitor centre and core buildings are connected by walking or a possible shuttle, so identify the route back to the parking area before starting.

People near the scenic area may direct cars into private parking spaces. Use the scenic-area or clearly marked parking areas instead. Do not drive into narrow village lanes just to get closer to a building or park where residents' movement is blocked.

High-speed rail, buses, and scenic transfers

From Longyan or Yongding Station, you can take a tourist bus or scenic-area direct shuttle from the coach station. A common fare is about CNY 15–20 per person. Another option is to travel from the old Longyan Coach Station to the Tulou transport hub and transfer there. After arriving at the visitor centre, the core buildings are about 1 kilometre away, or a 15-minute walk, with a sightseeing vehicle available according to the day's arrangements.

If you plan to combine this area with Gaobei, self-driving, a chartered car, or a confirmed transfer is preferable. A combined-ticket validity period does not mean shuttle departures are fixed, and returning to town in the evening may be difficult.

Know before you go

Ticket, shuttle, and programme boundaries

The Tulou Prince single ticket and Gaobei combined ticket cover different areas, and the entrance or core buildings may require a second ticket check. Whether the sightseeing vehicle, electric cart, lighting show, theatre performance, or folk programme is operating or costs extra must be confirmed on the day. None should be written as an automatic ticket inclusion.

Upper-floor access at Zhencheng Building is usually tightly controlled during the day. If a resident temporarily allows access or asks for CNY 10–15, that does not make it a fixed opening arrangement. The opening of Qingcheng or another building cannot be used to infer Zhencheng's opening. Continue to respect private rooms, upstairs corridors, and residents' daily life after buying a ticket.

Paths, spending, and avoiding solicitation

The village mainly uses cobbled paths, and mosquitoes are common in the mountains. Wear flat, non-slip shoes and carry repellent. Ground-floor shops and restaurants may be expensive, so carrying water and simple food is convenient.

People at the entrance may solicit visitors for private guides, tea, or cigarettes. Refuse directly. If someone at a religious site or another indoor space pressures you to donate, buy incense, or pay an unexplained charge, do not pay until you understand exactly what it covers.
