Plan at a glance
Single-building position and ticket
Zhencheng Building is in Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding District, Longyan, Fujian. It is a core building within Hongkeng Tulou Folk Culture Village and the Tulou Prince Scenic Area, not a separate neighbouring attraction. Visitors usually enter from the same visitor service centre and then walk or take the sightseeing vehicle to the building.
The common single-area ticket is CNY 90. If you combine it with the Tulou King Scenic Area around Gaobei, a common CNY 98 ticket is valid for 3 days. This page focuses on Zhencheng's bagua plan, inner and outer rings, and daily access limits; plan the wider Hongkeng route and facilities on the area page.
Allow about 1.5–2 hours for Zhencheng Building and its immediate surroundings. If you add Qingcheng, Kuiju, and Fuyu Buildings, allow 3–4 hours. The visitor centre is about 1 kilometre away, or a 15-minute walk, and sightseeing-vehicle operation must be confirmed that day.

Bagua layout and the Chinese-Western ancestral hall
Zhencheng Building follows a bagua layout. Its outer ring uses an earthen-and-timber structure, the inner ring uses brick and timber, and the ancestral hall combines classical columns with Chinese carved decoration. From public areas, observe the inner and outer rings, the courtyard, and the fire divisions; this gives a better understanding of the plan than a single exterior photograph.
The building has 208 rooms, and the courtyard contains two wells with different forms. These details are useful to compare on site, but residents' rooms and corridors are not part of the default visitor route.
Who this suits
Zhencheng suits architecture enthusiasts, visitors who enjoy spatial composition and detailed photography, and families who want to study one refined round tulou in a relatively short visit. It is more suitable than an extremely large round tulou for pausing over decoration, the entrance hall, and the inner-ring relationship.
If you want to photograph a second-floor corridor, the courtyard, or a reflection of the building, confirm the day's access first. If upper floors are closed, the pond in front, the exterior, and public areas still provide the main visit. Paid upstairs access is not essential.
Build your day
About 2 hours: a Zhencheng-focused route
From the visitor service centre, walk or take the sightseeing vehicle to Zhencheng Building. Start with the exterior and entrance, then observe the inner ancestral hall, courtyard, and public areas available that day. Finish at the pond in front or a nearby higher point for exterior photographs. With limited time, treat Rusheng Building as optional rather than continuing through all of Hongkeng Village.
The visitor centre and Zhencheng Building are about 1 kilometre apart, and a common one-way sightseeing-vehicle fare is CNY 5. Whether walking or taking the vehicle, include the return in your plan. This matters especially with older adults, children, or large luggage; do not schedule only the time spent inside the building.
About 3–4 hours: a village combination
For a first full visit to Hongkeng, continue from Zhencheng to Qingcheng, Kuiju, and Fuyu Buildings, then add Rusheng Building if the group still has energy. Zhencheng provides the architectural focus, while the other buildings show different square, mansion-style, and small round forms.
The route covers several separate buildings, so do not apply one building's upstairs experience to the others. If lighting or a performance is scheduled for the evening, finish the daytime building route first and decide whether to stay according to the day's arrangements.
Get there
Driving and parking
Drivers can navigate to “Tulou Prince Parking Lot.” Parking commonly costs about CNY 10 per visit. After parking, go to the visitor service centre to confirm ticket checks and the shuttle before continuing to Zhencheng Building. Do not use a private roadside parking space where people solicit drivers.
Reaching Gaobei or Chuxi after Zhencheng requires a separate driving or chartered-car leg. Walking inside the scenic area cannot replace the mountain-road transfer between districts, so allow time to return to town after the visit.
High-speed rail and public transport
From Longyan or Yongding Station, take a tourist bus or scenic-area direct shuttle from the coach station. A common fare is about CNY 15–20 per person. After reaching the visitor centre, walk about 1 kilometre, or 15 minutes, or use the sightseeing vehicle according to the day's arrangements.
Public-transport services are limited, and evening returns are less reliable. Without a private car, keep Zhencheng and Hongkeng as a daytime visit and arrange the vehicle out of the scenic area in advance.
Know before you go
Upstairs access, photography, and resident space
Upstairs access at Zhencheng is usually strictly controlled during the day. If a resident allows access or asks for CNY 10–15, that is a situation-specific arrangement and may be stopped completely during holidays. A ticket does not guarantee the second-floor corridor, an upper courtyard, or private rooms.
Tripods, long poles, or other equipment that affects movement may be restricted. Do not block the stairs, photograph residents without permission, or follow an unconfirmed private guide into an upper floor.
Paths and timing
The village mainly uses cobbled paths, so wear flat, non-slip shoes. Mosquitoes are common in the mountains, so carry repellent. Before 8:00 or after 16:00 is often more comfortable than midday for avoiding strong sun and concentrated crowds, but conditions vary by day.
Without a confirmed evening programme and return vehicle, do not stay until the mountain road becomes dark for lighting or night photographs. Zhencheng can be completed during the day; a safe return is more important than an extra photograph.
