Plan at a glance
Reaching the summit is a full mountain outing
Sankuaishi National Forest Park is in the Tongzhuangzi Village area of Hou'an Town, Fushun County. Its main peak is 1,131 m high. The park is known for mountain and forest scenery and sites linked to the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. If you plan to reach the summit, make it the main activity of the day and allow time for the return and shuttle waits.
The park has several hiking routes. After entering, check the day's map for open trails, trailheads and return options, then decide whether to summit based on your group's fitness.

Choose your visit
Decide whether to hike to the main peak
If you plan to summit, make the round trip to the main peak your main activity. As a route reference, the South Gate to the trailhead is about 5.4 km, followed by about 2.6 km of climbing. After entering, confirm which trails and shuttle sections are open and when the return service runs.
If you do not plan to summit, choose a shorter open route and focus on the forest, valleys or historic sites. Check the park map to see whether Bailongtan (White Dragon Pool), Baihuazhou and other sites are on the short route; use the map for their locations and walking connections.
Give nature and anti-Japanese heritage sites separate time
The park lists natural and historic sites such as Sankuaishi, Xianrentai, Bailongtan Waterfall, Gezidong Cave (鸽子洞, “Pigeon Cave”) and sites linked to the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. They are in different parts of the park. Use the day's map to confirm which are open and how trails connect, then plan the day's coverage accordingly.
If you want to visit the anti-Japanese heritage sites, ask which locations and guiding services are open, then follow the permitted route. Stop to read the information signs, and do not climb on heritage structures, cross barriers or leave marked trails for photos.
For a separate mountain park with its own entrance and hiking routes, see Tiannvshan Forest Park.
Build your day
Take the shuttle before starting the climb
If you plan to use a sightseeing shuttle, confirm its stop, the section it serves, the fare and the last departure after entering. Then decide whether to ride to the trailhead. The shuttle serves only the sections announced on site; its ticket does not cover the admission ticket or provide a ride to the summit.
From the trailhead, follow the main route open that day uphill and return the same way. Use Jiujiu Tianti (九九天梯, “Ninety-Nine Sky Steps”) or the “slide” shortcut only if park staff confirm that it is open and suitable for ascent or descent. Shorten the hike according to park instructions in snow, rain or slippery conditions.
Allow enough time for the summit and return
If the sightseeing shuttle covers the entrance-to-trailhead section, a shorter mountain visit may take about 2–3 hours; that estimate does not guarantee a round trip to the main peak. For a summit hike, allow more time for the ascent, descent, rest and shuttle transfer; a longer route can take about 4–6 hours.
Without the shuttle, walking between the South Gate and trailhead adds time. After entering, choose a goal based on open routes and your group's fitness, and confirm the last return shuttle. Do not start a long hike close to last entry.
Get there
Connect to Hou'an, then confirm the final leg
Buses from Fushun to Hou'an run about every 20 minutes. The tourist service from Hou'an to the park consists of one seven-seat van; frequent buses on the first leg do not guarantee an immediate connection at Hou'an. Before travelling on a weekend or public holiday, confirm whether the van is running, where to board and how to return.
After arriving at Fushun Station by rail, arrange a local transfer to the Fushun–Hou'an bus boarding point. Before setting out, confirm the bus departure location and time and the transfer point in Hou'an. If the outbound and return services do not connect, arrange a chartered car or drive.
Driving address and park shuttle
Navigate to “Sankuaishi National Forest Park, Tongzhuangzi Village, Hou'an Town, Fushun County, Fujin Line” (抚顺县抚金线后安镇佟庄子村三块石国家森林公园). Before leaving, use the map to confirm that you have selected the entrance you plan to visit. Pay for parking and the sightseeing shuttle separately as directed on site; confirm the fee, available spaces and shuttle stops in the day's notices.
Know before you go
Opening hours, tickets and discounts
Third-party listings show reference hours of 08:00–16:30 and ticket enquiry numbers 024-54179518 and 024-54041018. Confirm seasonal hours, last entry and temporary closures for your date. Third-party ticket pages list adult admission from CNY 48 and concession tickets from CNY 23. Actual prices, age conditions, changes and ticket exchange depend on the date and product. Check the entrance, admission credential and whether the shuttle is extra when buying.
Mountain preparation and safety
The mountain hike takes more effort than the walk from the entrance. Bring enough water and simple supplies, insect repellent and shoes suitable for mountain paths. Check the weather, trail conditions and closures on arrival; if you plan to eat in the park, confirm whether the dining area is open that day.
Do not climb closed boulders or heritage remains, and do not enter narrow steep slopes or downhill shortcuts; avoid restricted or unsafe waterside areas. With children, decide whether to continue uphill based on the actual trail conditions. Follow park instructions in rain or snow, on slippery ground or when visibility is poor.
Plan nearby attractions separately
Tiannvshan Forest Park, Qing Yongling and Hetu Ala City are separate attractions, each with its own entrance, ticket and route. After hiking at Sankuaishi, check transport and opening hours separately before visiting nearby sites; do not combine a long mountain hike and several attractions into a fixed, easy day trip.
