Plan at a glance
From the South Gate to Tiannv Peak and back
Tiannvshan Forest Park is in Taiping Village, Majuanzi Township, Fushun County. Its main peak is 780 m high. The South Gate is the hiking start point; the summit route mainly follows the park trail through Mulan Valley. Check the entrance map and on-site notices for trails open that day.
The park has many sights, and the route available to visitors depends on the entrance map and that day's notices. Loops toward Wuxiang Pavilion and Longsongding are not default routes; check closures and staff instructions when entering.
Plan for half a day, including the descent
A round trip from the South Gate to Tiannv Peak takes about 2–2.5 hours at a brisk walking pace. Allow half a day for the visit, including rest stops, photos and changes caused by trail conditions.

Choose your visit
For the summit: follow the main trail through Mulan Valley
Some steps near the summit are steep, so slow down and watch your footing. If travelling with children or people with lower fitness, decide whether to continue based on trail conditions and how the group is doing.
Use the park's main trail that is open that day for both the ascent and descent. If you encounter a closure, changing weather or fatigue, turn back on an open section as directed by the park.
For a shorter walk: enjoy the forest, valley and rock scenery
You do not have to reach Tiannv Peak to enjoy the park. Around Mulan Valley, the scenery includes forest, rocks and a valley landscape, with mountain rock faces and seasonal vegetation along the way. Look for Siebold's magnolia (Magnolia sieboldii, 天女木兰) in its summer flowering season, especially in June and July, and enjoy the changing foliage in autumn. If you have limited energy, walk a section of the main trail that is open that day, then return to the South Gate.
Choose scenery by season
Flowering and autumn color vary with the year's temperatures, rainfall and elevation, so the timing and display can differ from year to year.
For a separate forest park with its own hiking routes and return transport, see Sankuaishi National Forest Park.
Build your day
Summit return: South Gate to Tiannv Peak
Enter at the South Gate ticket office and follow the main trail through Mulan Valley, passing Juxiantai, Nantianmen and Yixiantian before reaching the Tiannv Peak viewpoint. Allow time for the ascent, descent, rests and photos; follow the trail sections open that day.
From the summit, descend to the South Gate on the main trail open that day. After rain, paths can be slippery. If the weather changes or someone in your group is tiring, turn back promptly and stay on marked park trails.
Turnaround time: follow last-entry and weather guidance
At the entrance, confirm last entry and the latest time to descend. Adjust the plan according to park notices during thunderstorms, strong winds, poor visibility or when steps are wet and slippery.
Get there
Drive to the South Gate ticket office
Navigate to “Tiannvshan Forest Park South Gate” (天女山森林公园南门) or “Tiannvshan Ticket Office” (天女山售票处), in Taiping Village, Majuanzi Township, Fushun County. Shibawan (十八弯, “Eighteen Bends”) is a winding mountain road leading toward the park. Allow extra driving time for its curves; the hiking route starts at the South Gate.
Parking is listed at about CNY 10 per day. Confirm the actual parking area, spaces and fee on site. The South Gate ticket office is the park entrance; the summit, scenic-road viewpoints and small village roads are not entry points.
Bus from Fushun
The Fushun–Jindouyu bus runs once a day, serves Tiannvshan and stops at villages along the way. Confirm the departure station, time and stop near the park with the bus operator or scenic area. For the outbound trip, also check how to walk or transfer from the drop-off point to the South Gate.
Before setting out, confirm the return departure and boarding point as well. With only one bus a day, plan the visit around its timetable and arrange another return option in advance if needed.
Transfer from the railway station in Fushun
After arriving in Fushun by high-speed or regular rail, arrange a local transfer from the station to the Jindouyu bus boarding point. Check the station, bus departure time and time needed for the city transfer before planning both the outbound and return trips.
Know before you go
Check hours and ticket prices for your date
Ctrip lists reference opening hours of 08:30–16:30; last-entry times may vary by season. Before travelling, call 024-54173333 or 024-54053456 to confirm opening, last entry and the latest time to descend that day.
Adult tickets are listed at CNY 49.9–50. Senior and student concession tickets are listed at about CNY 24.9–25. Check the ticket rules for free admission, age and required ID on your visit date.
Footwear, water and weather
The mountain trail has steps and a steep final section. Wear non-slip hiking shoes and bring enough water and simple snacks. The scenic area has a café and dining area; check that day's notice for their hours and location.
Steps and rock surfaces become more slippery after rain. Use insect repellent in summer, and turn back according to park instructions if the weather worsens. Trail access and difficulty vary by section; visitors with limited mobility should ask staff at the South Gate which routes are suitable that day.
Plan the other forest park separately
Tiannvshan and Sankuaishi National Forest Park are separate attractions with their own entrances and hiking routes. Do not combine the two peaks or small mountain paths into one traverse. If visiting one park for the day, plan around that park's open routes and return transport.
