Location and entrance
Ganzhou Confucian Temple (赣州文庙) is at No. 42 Houde Road (厚德路 42 号) in Zhanggong District. Search for “Ganzhou Confucian Temple”; enter through the stone-arch Lingxing Gate (棂星门), then cross Zhuangyuan Bridge (状元桥) to the main courtyard. The visit focuses on the temple's buildings, Panchi Pond (泮池), the temple's ceremonial pond, and red walls; the neighboring school is not an open visitor area.

The temple is free to enter. Hours are generally 08:00–18:00, with visitor entry usually stopping at about 17:30. Hours may change with nearby institutions or temporary management, so afternoon visitors should check the on-site schedule.
How much time to allow
Allow about 30 minutes for the main buildings. Combining the corridors, Panchi Pond, photographs and a walk through the surrounding old town takes about 1 hour. The temple works well as a short stop with Fushougou Museum, Weijia Courtyard, Zao'er Lane or Jianchun Gate, but it does not need a half-day on its own.

Dacheng Hall and the glazed roof
Dacheng Hall (大成殿) is the courtyard's main building. Its yellow-and-green glazed tile roof stands out in the light and is the central architectural detail. From Zhuangyuan Bridge or the courtyard, you can see the stone railings, the front of Dacheng Hall and the relationship between the hall and Panchi Pond.
Lingxing Gate, red walls and Panchi Pond
Lingxing Gate is the first major architectural marker after entering. The red-walled corridors work well for depth and shadow photographs, while Panchi Pond and Zhuangyuan Bridge preserve the formal layout of a traditional academy. Walk slowly to study the roofs, gates and corridors; photographers can use the softer light around 09:00–10:00 or after 16:00.

The temple suits visitors interested in historic buildings, local culture and traditional-style photography. It also works for a 30–60-minute family stop introducing the layout of an old academy. Since the site is compact, continue to Zao'er Lane or Jianchun Gate if you want more everyday old-town scenery instead of circling the courtyard repeatedly.

Quick route: about 30 minutes
Enter through Lingxing Gate, cross Zhuangyuan Bridge, then see Dacheng Gate (大成门) and the front of Dacheng Hall. Loop out through the side corridor and photograph the red walls, Panchi Pond and roof details. If it is close to 17:30, see Dacheng Hall and Zhuangyuan Bridge first so the last-entry time does not cut off the main buildings.
Old-town connection: about 1 hour
Walk to the temple from Fushougou Museum or Weijia Courtyard, visit Lingxing Gate, Zhuangyuan Bridge, Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall and the corridors, then continue on foot to Zao'er Lane. In the evening, continue to Jianchun Gate and the Donghe Pontoon Bridge for river views; if you plan to step onto the bridge, confirm its access that day and take care on wet planks.
How to view Ciyun Pagoda
From some points inside the temple, Ciyun Pagoda (慈云塔) and the red walls can appear in the same frame, but the pagoda is inside a nearby primary-school campus. Keep photographs within the temple's open area and do not treat the school or the pagoda as a visitor stop.

Walking and bus
Search for “Ganzhou Confucian Temple” or “No. 42 Houde Road” and use Lingxing Gate as the entry target. The old-town streets are narrow, so walking or a shared electric bike is more convenient than driving in at the last minute. Bus 21 stops at Ganzhou No. 1 Middle School (赣州一中); walk from there to the temple.
Parking
Parking on and around Houde Road is limited, with possible congestion during holidays. If driving, leave the car outside the old town or at your hotel, then walk in. Parking spaces and charges vary, so do not use the school area or the temple frontage as a regular parking point.

Entry time and photography area
Hours are generally 08:00–18:00, with entry usually stopping at about 17:30. For afternoon photography, reach Lingxing Gate before last entry. Ciyun Pagoda should only be used as a background element in photographs, and the school campus is outside the visit area.
Footwear and food nearby
The site involves little walking, but stone paving, the bridge and corridors can be slippery in rain, so flat shoes are enough. Nearby options include Shangyou baomiguo rice cakes, Laojiu Food Stall and Tingyuan Restaurant. Gannan food is often spicy, so ask for no spice or mild spice; if you also visit Fushougou Museum, confirm its reservation and closure arrangements separately.
