Plan at a glance

The two entrances are far apart

Sanbaishan Scenic Area is in Anyuan County, Ganzhou. The South Gate is the lower-lying Guoqiaolong Visitor Centre (过桥垄游客中心), where both Route A and Route B begin; the North Gate is the higher Dongfeng Lake Visitor Centre (东风湖游客中心), where Route B usually ends. The two gates are not a short walk from each other, so decide your entry and exit sides before buying tickets or parking.

Tickets and opening hours

A Route B package costs about CNY 135–150. It usually combines the admission ticket, cableway, glass sky bridge, sightseeing bus and Dongfeng Lake boat; Route A is usually based on admission plus a round-trip cableway ride. The admission ticket, cableway, boat and shuttle may also be charged separately, and package contents and prices can change, so check the ticket type and inclusions for the day before buying.

Hours are generally 08:00–17:30. Arrive before 09:00 if possible to reduce cableway and shuttle queues. Reservation and ticket-purchase methods, open activities and entry arrangements may change, so check the scenic area's notice before leaving.

How much time to allow

The complete Route B loop takes about 5–6 hours and combines mountain boardwalks, waterfalls, a canyon, a boat ride and a North Gate exit. Route A takes about 2–3 hours and suits visitors with less time or those who only want the main high-mountain views. Both routes still involve substantial walking and steps even with the cableway.

Route B's mountain-and-water combination

The glass sky bridge is about 330 metres long, Manyun Boardwalk follows the mountainside, and Dongjiang First Waterfall drops about 120 metres. These are the main stops on Route B. The Dongfeng Lake boat ride takes about 30 minutes and replaces part of the downhill walking, but boat departures depend on weather and available capacity.

Route A's shorter highlights

Route A focuses on the glass sky bridge, suspended viewing platform and Dongjiang First Waterfall after the uphill section, followed by the cableway back to the South Gate. With limited time, it keeps the most distinctive bridge, waterfall and mountain views without entering Butterfly Grand Canyon or the North Gate water route.

Who this works for

Route B suits visitors interested in landscape photography, glass bridges and cliffside paths. Older travellers, families with children or anyone wanting a half-day mountain visit may prefer Route A. Photographers can use the glass sky bridge, suspended platform and Dongfeng Lake; waterfall flow varies with season and rainfall, so look at the day's water conditions before deciding how long to stay.

Build your day

Complete Route B loop: about 5–6 hours

Enter at the South Gate's Guoqiaolong Visitor Centre and take the uphill cableway. Continue through Huyuan Stone (护源石), Dishui Guanyin (滴水观音), the glass sky bridge, Manyun Boardwalk, Dongjiang First Waterfall and Siyuan Baoding (思源宝鼎). Then take the scenic-area bus to Zhiyinquan (知音泉) and Longtan (龙潭), walk through Butterfly Grand Canyon, and finish with the Dongfeng Lake boat down to the North Gate's Dongfeng Lake Visitor Centre.

For Route B, leave the car at the South Gate. After exiting at the North Gate, confirm an outside shuttle or another vehicle back to the South Gate. A return shuttle is usually around CNY 10, but frequency, capacity and price may change; if return transport from the North Gate is limited during holidays, you may need to walk more than 1.5 kilometres.

Short Route A: about 2–3 hours

Enter at the South Gate and take the uphill cableway to the main mountain area. Visit the glass sky bridge, suspended viewing platform and Dongjiang First Waterfall in that order, then take the cableway back to the South Gate. This route does not use the North Gate, so parking and the return journey stay on the south side.

Get there

Driving and public transport

Driving from Ganzhou city takes about 2.5 hours. Before arrival, choose either the South Gate Guoqiaolong Visitor Centre or the North Gate Dongfeng Lake Visitor Centre and set that exact point as the navigation target. By public transport, take a coach from Ganzhou Bus Station to Anyuan County, then transfer to a vehicle for the scenic area; the journey is long and services are limited, so plan the connections in advance.

Parking and vehicle position

Both the South and North Gates have car parks, but Route B enters at the South Gate and exits at the North Gate, leaving the car and the return point on different sides. Route A starts and ends at the South Gate. Spaces may be limited during holidays, so arrive early and arrange the return to the South Gate before the boat reaches the North Gate.

Know before you go

Weather, walking and equipment

Route B includes a lot of walking and steps, so wear shoes with good grip. The mountain can be about 5–8°C cooler than the foothills, making a light jacket useful even when the valley is warm. Boardwalks and bridges are slippery after rain, and wasps or hornets may be active near the boardwalks. Waterfalls can be smaller in dry periods; adjust the stop times to the weather.

Shuttles and activity changes

The cableway, glass sky bridge, boat, sightseeing bus and South–North Gate shuttles may change with weather, maintenance or visitor numbers. Even with a Route B package, some activities may be adjusted. Confirm the South Gate entry/North Gate exit shuttle before leaving; if any section stops running, switch on site to Route A or the walking sections that remain open.

Food in Anyuan County

If you are staying in Anyuan or returning to the county town for a meal, consider Anyuan sanxian rice noodles (安远三鲜粉), Hakka stuffed tofu, fried potato cakes and tangpi (烫皮). Services and food choices on both sides of the scenic area are limited, so carry water on the full Route B and plan the meal before entry or on the return journey.
