A group of separate historic sites
Republic Cradle Scenic Area (共和国摇篮景区) is in Ruijin, Jiangxi, and consists of several separate historic-site groups, including Yeping (叶坪), Hongjing (红井), Ersuda (二苏大) and the Chinese Soviet Memorial Park (中华苏维埃纪念园). Yeping and Hongjing have separate entrances and ticket arrangements; Ersuda is next to Hongjing and is free. They are not one single park entered through one gate.
Tickets and opening hours
Admission is about CNY 35 at Yeping and about CNY 30 at Hongjing; Ersuda is free. Opening hours are not identical across the historic sites and museums: the museum generally opens 08:40–17:00, with entry stopping at 16:30, and it is usually closed on Mondays. How much time to allow
Allow a full day, or about 6–7 hours, for the complete history route. Yeping and Hongjing are about 10 kilometres apart, so use a car or reliable shuttle between them; Hongjing and Ersuda can be connected on foot. For a textbook-focused visit to Hongjing and Ersuda only, allow about 2–3 hours and enter through Hongjing South Gate for closer access to the main sights.

Yeping: early sites and memorial spaces
At Yeping, focus on the First Soviet Congress site (一苏大旧址), formerly the Xie Family Ancestral Hall, the Red Army Martyrs Memorial Tower and the old camphor tree behind Mao Zedong's former residence. The historic sites are spread out within the area, making Yeping a good choice for visitors interested in the early Central Soviet Area, meeting sites and memorial architecture.
Hongjing: a textbook landmark and rural setting
Hongjing centres on the Red Well, its stone stele and the story associated with “Never Forget Who Dug the Well” (吃水不忘挖井人). Rice fields around the site change with the seasons. For photographs of the well, stele and fields, arrive relatively early after opening; crowd levels and the rural view depend on the date, weather and crops.
Ersuda: the assembly hall and air-raid shelter
The Great Hall of the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic at Ersuda (二苏大中华苏维埃临时中央政府大礼堂) resembles a Red Army octagonal cap from the outside. Its corridors, long benches and platform show the building's interior layout, while the nearby air-raid shelter may be open for entry. Visitors focused on revolutionary history can take the full route; families can combine Hongjing and Ersuda for a shorter walk with the main landmarks.

Build your day
Complete route: about 6–7 hours
Start at Yeping in the morning and visit the First Soviet Congress site, the Red Army Martyrs Memorial Tower and the old camphor tree in that order. In the afternoon, drive to Hongjing and use South Gate as the preferred entrance. Visit the Red Well, stone stele, group sculptures and surrounding fields, then walk to nearby Ersuda for the octagonal-cap-shaped hall and air-raid shelter.
This order follows the historical sequence of 1931, 1933 and 1934 and keeps the roughly 10-kilometre Yeping–Hongjing leg for a vehicle. Yeping, Hongjing and other areas usually have car parks, often free; during holidays, confirm parking, access and shuttle arrangements for Hongjing and Ersuda before leaving Yeping.
Short route: about 2–3 hours
Enter through Hongjing South Gate, see the Red Well and stone stele first, then follow the site route past the group sculptures and rural landscape. Continue on foot to Ersuda for the octagonal-cap-shaped hall and air-raid shelter. This version skips Yeping and suits a limited schedule, a family textbook-themed visit or a plan that leaves Yeping for another day.
Arranging a guide
The price for an official guide is about CNY 200 per session. Confirm the current price, group duration and whether the museum is offering free recurring guided talks or tours at the visitor centre. Without a guide budget, use scheduled museum talks and exhibit panels instead of joining another group's guide in a way that disrupts its visit.
Get there
Driving and public transport
Driving is the most practical choice for the complete route. Navigate to Yeping, Hongjing or Ersuda as separate entrances; Yeping and Hongjing are about 10 kilometres apart. Buses including Routes 8 and 11 serve the Ruijin urban area and the sites, but the journey takes longer. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are generally available between the city and the scenic area; confirm the return vehicle before crossing between sites.
Parking and returning
Yeping and Hongjing generally have car parks, often free. Since Ersuda is next to Hongjing, park once and walk between them. If driving the complete route, make the inter-site journey during the day and arrange the vehicle towards Ruijin city when leaving Hongjing or Ersuda; return arrangements should follow each site's entrance rather than one shared main gate.
Know before you go
Discounts, closures and drinking water
“Recite the Text for Free Entry” is a possible temporary activity. It has previously asked visitors to recite “Never Forget Who Dug the Well” fluently within 1 minute in exchange for one adult ticket being waived. Ask the ticket office whether it is running, which site accepts it, how it is checked and how many places are available; do not treat it as a long-term discount. A shared ladle may be available for drawing water at the Red Well, but do not drink the well water.
Yeping tickets around CNY 35, Hongjing tickets around CNY 30 and free entry at Ersuda may change. The sites sell tickets separately, and third-party platform prices should be checked separately; holidays, temporary exhibitions and shuttle arrangements may also change the order of entry.
Walking and photography
Each site involves a fair amount of walking and standing, so wear comfortable flat shoes. Walking cannot replace the roughly 10-kilometre journey from Yeping to Hongjing. The Hongjing stele, group sculptures and rice fields, along with the front of the Ersuda hall, its second-floor corridors and the air-raid shelter entrance, are different photo subjects; stay in open areas and do not touch the historic sites or displays.
Food in Ruijin
Ruijin beef soup is a common local breakfast, and other choices include Hakka stuffed tofu, huangyuan rice cakes and fanbao meatballs. You can also consider local beef-soup shops such as Lantingxia Beef Soup (烂厅下牛肉汤); check opening hours and queues on the day. Use Ruijin city for a meal on the complete route, and carry water and a simple snack while inside the scenic area.
