How to Visit
1

Arrive at Huangsha Station

Take Guangzhou Metro Line 1 or 6 to Huangsha Station (黄沙站), Exit F. Cross the bridge to reach Shamian Main Street (沙面大街) directly.

Do NOT use Huangsha Station labeled 'Zoo Station' — that is a different stop
2

Start at HSBC Building Ruins

Begin your walk at the former HSBC Building (汇丰银行旧址) — the island's most majestic Baroque structure with colossal Roman pillars and green dome. One of the most recognizable landmarks on the island.

Best taken from the exterior; interior access varies
3

Visit the Sacred Heart Cathedral

Head to the white Gothic-style Shengqi Catholic Church (露德天主教圣母堂). The pointed spires and stained glass windows create a dreamlike atmosphere in sunlight.

Check opening hours before visiting
4

Explore the Red House and Starbucks Reserve

The Red House (红楼) — original customs club building — is Shamian's iconic crimson landmark. Nearby, the Tiffany-blue Starbucks Reserve building is a popular rest stop.

Great for a coffee break mid-visit
5

Exit via Cultural Park Station

Stroll through the creative shops along Shamian West Street, then exit via Cultural Park Station (文化公园站) on Line 8, Exit E.

About 5-minute walk from Shamian's east end
