How to Visit
1

Visit Cuiwei Garden together with Jiaxiu Pavilion

Cuiwei Garden sits next to Jiaxiu Pavilion and is best visited on the same walk. It is free. Use 09:00-17:00 as the opening window, with last entry at 16:30 and closure on Mondays.

Tip:It is a quiet add-on beside Jiaxiu Pavilion, not a large garden destination.
2

Walk in from Jiaxiu Pavilion

After Jiaxiu Pavilion, walk to Cuiwei Garden and see Gongnan Pavilion, Longmen Academy, Cuiwei Pavilion, and the courtyard corridors. Most visitors need 45-60 minutes.

Tip:If short on time, focus on Gongnan Pavilion and the courtyard area closer to the Nanming River.
3

See it as a quiet historic building space

Cuiwei Garden is valuable for its old architecture, courtyards, corridors, and old-city atmosphere, not for a long list of sights. It is best for slow detail-watching and quieter photos.

Tip:Do not expect a large classical garden. The site is small.
4

Return to the river or go for food afterward

After Cuiwei Garden, return to Fuyu Bridge for Jiaxiu Pavilion exterior photos, or continue to Huguo Road, Zhiyue Street, or Qingyun Market for food.

Tip:This area works best with walking and short taxi rides, not frequent driving between stops.
Highlights
  • Cuiwei Garden is the quieter historic complex beside Jiaxiu Pavilion.
  • Gongnan Pavilion gives the strongest sense of scale and roofline.
  • Longmen Academy and the courtyards add old Guiyang education and literati context.
  • Corridors, walls, bamboo shadows, and stone steps are better for detail photos than big scenic views.
  • Together with Jiaxiu Pavilion, it creates a compact old-city walking route.
Insider Tips

Cuiwei Garden is small, so do not plan it like a major garden.

Wear flat shoes for the stone steps and corridors.

Late afternoon light is softer, but last entry is 16:30.

For portraits, use corridor corners rather than the entrance or main path.

With only 30 minutes, focus on Gongnan Pavilion and the Nanming River-side courtyard.
