How to Visit
1

See Yelang Valley as an art installation park

Yelang Valley is not a traditional natural scenic area or a real ancient-city ruin. It is closer to a stone castle and sculpture valley built over many years by an artist, and it suits travelers who like unusual buildings, stone figures, and photography.

Tip:If you expect grand natural scenery, mature performances, or large-scenic-area services, Yelang Valley may feel limited.
2

Plan around a CNY 20 ticket and 1.5-2.5 hours

Adult ticket is CNY 20. Children, students, and visitors aged 60-69 pay CNY 10. Entry hours are 08:30-19:00, with ticket sales and entry stopping at 18:00. For most visitors, 1.5-2.5 hours is enough for a slow walk, photos, and the higher viewpoint.

Tip:You do not need to arrive extremely early, but late afternoon light is softer and better for stone walls and portraits.
3

Connect from Huaxi Park Station by bus or short taxi ride

By public transport, take Metro Line 3 to Huaxi Park Station, then transfer to Bus 401 to Yelang Valley Scenic Area. You can also take a short taxi from Huaxi or the university town area. Self-drivers can navigate to Yelang Valley Scenic Area on Siyang Road, Huaxi District.

Tip:Public transport works, but the transfer takes time. If you also visit Huaxi Park or Shili River Beach that day, using taxis between stops is easier.
4

Walk from the entrance toward the core stone-castle area

After entering, start with the stone walls, heads, and totem-like forms near the entrance, then continue into the core valley area. If you have the energy, go higher for a wider view of the whole space. There are stone steps, slopes, and some slippery surfaces, so wear shoes with grip.

Tip:Do not leave after only a few photos near the entrance. The layered stone-castle feeling becomes clearer farther inside.
Highlights
  • Stone heads, totem-like columns, and castle-style structures are the most recognizable parts of Yelang Valley.
  • Its value comes from personal artistic creation and long-term hand building, not the scale of natural scenery.
  • Grey stone walls and vines work well for portraits, especially outside harsh midday light.
  • The slopes and height changes in the valley create different views of the stone structures.
  • If paired with Huaxi Park or Shili River Beach, Yelang Valley works well as the distinctive half-day add-on.
Insider Tips

Wear non-slip shoes, not only photo-friendly shoes. Stone steps are more slippery after rain.

In summer, prepare both sun protection and mosquito repellent.

Food and rest facilities are limited, so do not rely on the scenic area for a full meal.

If you are not interested in photography, 1.5 hours may be enough.

On holidays, parking and entry can slow down. Do not schedule Huaxi-area stops too tightly.
