How to Visit
1

Treat Jiaxiu Pavilion as a short city-center stop

Jiaxiu Pavilion is free and works best as a 45-60 minute visit. Use 09:00-17:00 as the opening window, with last entry at 16:30 and closure on Mondays.

Tip:It is a Guiyang landmark, but the site is small and does not need half a day.
2

Use taxi, bus, or walking instead of driving

Buses stop near Jiaxiu Pavilion or Dananmen. If taking Metro Line 1 to Zhongshan West Road Station, allow about 20 minutes on foot. Parking in the city center is inconvenient, so driving there just for this stop is not recommended.

Tip:If you stay near the old city or Penshuichi area, taxi and walking are usually easier than dealing with parking.
3

See Fuyu Bridge and the Nanming River before entering the pavilion

Fuyu Bridge and the riverside path give the best full view of Jiaxiu Pavilion. After that, enter the pavilion to see the building and the long couplet.

Tip:Watch your footing on the bridge and riverside stones, especially after rain.
4

Stay for the exterior night view if you arrive late afternoon

Daytime is better for architectural details, while evening is better for lights and river reflections. After closing, you can still see the exterior from outside, but it is not a full visit.

Tip:To see both daytime and night views, arrive in the late afternoon but enter before the last-entry time.
Highlights
  • Jiaxiu Pavilion is Guiyang's most recognizable city landmark and works well as a first city stop or evening walk.
  • Fuyu Bridge frames the pavilion, bridge, and river in one view.
  • The long couplet inside helps explain why the pavilion is more than a photo stop.
  • Daytime details and evening reflections feel different enough to justify a late-afternoon visit.
  • Nearby food streets and restaurants make it easy to pair with Qingyun Market or old-city snacks.
Insider Tips

Jiaxiu Pavilion is small. Pair it with Cuiwei Garden, Wenchang Pavilion, or Qingyun Market.

On Mondays, you can still view the exterior, but do not plan a full interior visit.

The riverside and bridge surfaces can be slippery after rain.

Skip driving; short taxi rides or buses save time in this area.

For fewer people, go after opening. For lights, accept a busier evening scene.
