Plan at a glance
The pier route and lake area
Jingniang Lake is in Huoshui Township, Wu'an, about a 1.5-hour drive from Handan. Boat trips across the lake start at the pier. Queqiao Bridge spans the water and connects the two sides of the visitor area; the routes in this guide focus on visits that include a boat ride.
The lake was formed from a man-made reservoir, with red Danxia cliffs along both shores. It is a national 4A scenic area, best known for its high-gorge lake views and boat trips.
Adult admission is about CNY 65, and the boat ride is about CNY 50. For the boat route, choose a ticket type that includes the boat; check the day’s price when buying.
Ticket types and opening hours
The sightseeing elevator costs CNY 20, the glass walkway CNY 30, the cableway CNY 30, and the sightseeing bus CNY 10. An approximately CNY 180 package lists admission, boat ride, sightseeing elevator, cableway, glass walkway, mini train, and downhill sightseeing bus. Prices and inclusions can change; check the ticket details on the day of purchase.
You can buy tickets in advance through Meituan or Ctrip and enter directly; no separate reservation is needed. In peak season (May 1–October 7), the scenic area is open 08:00–19:00. In the off-season, it is open 08:00–17:30, with last entry at 16:30.

Choose your visit
Boat views of the cliffs and lake valleys
From the boat, you can see the red Danxia cliffs on both shores and the high-gorge lake scenery, the main experience at Jingniang Lake. Boats stop at Siyou Valley Pier, and Longbi Rock Waterfall is another sight along the route. The boat offers views of the cliffs on both sides.
The lakeside path is good for a relaxed walk and photos; take a boat to see the cliffs and coves from the water. Older visitors and children can focus on the flatter sections, then decide whether to climb according to their comfort and energy.
Songzu Peak and sights on the mountain
Songzu Peak has open views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Jingniang Shrine, Yunzhong Temple, and the glass walkway add uphill walking for visitors who want a longer visit. The spot known as “Shibudangdao” is another photo point.
The sightseeing elevator connects to an uphill section, while the cableway, mountain slide, and mini train serve different parts of the area. The full mountain route includes walking and takes more time and effort than the lakeside boat route.
Build your day
A 2–3-hour boat route
Enter at the pier and take a boat across the lake, getting off at Siyou Valley Pier. Walk back along the lakeside path toward Queqiao Bridge or the scenic-area exit. The route takes about 2–3 hours, follows mostly level paths, and does not include a mountain climb.
This short route focuses on lake views and walking near Siyou Valley; it does not include the climb to Songzu Peak or the cableway and elevator on the mountain.
Boat trips may be shortened on holidays. Before boarding, check the day’s route, return pier, and last departure, then follow the on-site walking route.
A 4–5-hour mountain highlights route
Take a boat from the pier to Siyou Valley. After disembarking, ride the sightseeing elevator uphill, walk across the glass walkway, then continue on foot to Jingniang Shrine, Songzu Peak, and Yunzhong Temple. Descend by cableway or on foot, then walk or take the mini train to the sightseeing-bus stop and ride to the scenic-area exit. Allow about 4–5 hours for the full route.
This route combines the boat trip, a climb, and mountain-top sights, using several different forms of transport. Package inclusions and the day’s operating facilities can change; choose your transport based on the ticket details when you buy.
Get there
Bus and driving
From Handan West Bus Station, take bus 808 to Wu'an Bus Station for about CNY 7. Transfer to a bus toward Guwudang Mountain or Changshou Village and get off at Jingniang Lake for about CNY 10. If driving, take the Han-Wu Expressway and turn onto Provincial Road 312; navigate to “Jingniang Lake Scenic Area” or “Jingniang Lake Visitor Center.”
There are several parking lots outside the scenic area, costing about CNY 10 per day. Traffic is heavy on holidays, so arrive early. Some nearby restaurants have their own parking; check their rules separately.
Entrance and transport inside the scenic area
The pier is the starting point for the boat route. The mountain highlights route uses the elevator, glass walkway, cableway or walking, mini train, and sightseeing bus in sequence. Check the stations and exit point when buying tickets.
Know before you go
Queues, boat trips, and optional spending
Aim to enter before 08:30. Boat trips may be shorter on holidays; follow instructions at the pier and on board. Near the mountain-top temples, visitors may be invited to make a donation, and there may be paid performance-related offers beside the glass walkway. These are optional; ask whether there is a charge before taking part.
Food and other stops around Wu'an
Farmhouse restaurants outside the scenic area serve reservoir fish, chicken stewed with mushrooms, and Wu'an hand-pulled noodles. East Taihang, Qibugou, and Guwudang Mountain are also in the Wu'an area, but each has a separate entrance, route, and ticket. Allow separate visit time for each rather than counting them as part of a half-day at Jingniang Lake.
