The museum is in the Science Park, not the main campus
HIT Aerospace Museum is inside the Harbin Institute of Technology Science Park at 95 Hexing Road in Nangang District. The south gate is the easiest entry; the museum is about 200 metres inside. The main campus is around Xidazhi Street, about 2 km away. Navigate to “HIT Science Park South Gate, 95 Hexing Road” rather than going to the main campus first.
The museum and the outdoor rocket-and-missile plaza are free. During summer and winter holidays and statutory holidays, reserve campus entry seven days in advance through the official HIT account or the “HIT Campus Visit” mini program; tickets are currently released at 08:00 each day. During the semester, visitors can currently enter the campus directly with an ID card. Public campus-entry information is mainly written for Chinese ID cards. Visitors using a foreign passport should confirm reservation, campus registration and museum-entry arrangements with the university or museum through an official channel before departure and carry the original passport.
Outdoor hardware and three indoor floors
Current listed hours are 08:30–17:00, with museum entry stopping at 16:30. During the semester, Monday is closed; Mondays are usually open during summer and winter holidays, while New Year's Eve and the first and second days of the lunar new year may be closed. A quick route takes about 1–1.5 hours and a full route about 2–3 hours; include campus reservation, security and outdoor walking.
The outdoor plaza has the Long March 1 launch vehicle and Dongfeng 2 ballistic missile. The indoor first to third floors cover Chinese space history, HIT's connection with aerospace and future space technology. Outdoor and indoor content are separate: use the outdoor section first in clear weather, or follow the indoor opening status in rain, snow or severe cold.

The outdoor rocket-and-missile plaza
The outdoor plaza displays full-size Long March 1 and Dongfeng 2 objects and is the most recognizable approach to the museum. In good morning or afternoon light, photograph the whole rocket from below. Stay in open areas and do not touch exhibits or barriers.
Weather controls the outdoor stay. Winter cold and wind can shorten it. The plaza is about 200 metres from the south gate, so viewing it before entering reduces repeated outdoor walking. In rain, snow or a temporary closure, follow the on-site direction indoors.
First floor: the history of Chinese spaceflight
The first floor covers the development of Chinese spaceflight, including Chang'e 6 lunar-sample equipment and a re-entry capsule with visible traces of atmospheric heating. It suits first-time visitors and anyone who wants a timeline; read the panels and scan the QR codes beside exhibits.
Do not touch exhibits or use flash indoors, and do not bring water or drinks into the museum; storage is available at the entrance. Keep the display paths clear and use interactive equipment according to staff and exhibit instructions.
Floors 2–3 and the interactive area
The second floor focuses on the connection between HIT and Chinese aerospace, including 1:1 models of Shenzhou spacecraft and the Tiangong space station. The third floor looks at future space technology and may include a model of the Zhurong Mars rover. The planet scale and simulated-launch areas suit families and young visitors, but opening may vary by day.

1–1.5-hour quick route
Enter through the Science Park south gate and walk about 200 metres to the outdoor rocket-and-missile plaza. See the Long March 1 and Dongfeng 2 objects first, then enter the museum and follow the first-floor → second-floor → third-floor order before leaving by the exit.
2–3-hour full route
Start with the rocket and missile on the outdoor plaza, then follow first-floor space history → second-floor HIT and aerospace → third-floor future technology. If time allows, add the planet scale and simulated launch and scan the free audio explanations beside the displays.
Queues and equipment availability affect the pace. Finish the panels and priority models first, then decide whether to wait. Children should stay with an adult, and everyone should follow the one-way route after an activity without touching exhibits.

During the semester, the current arrangement is direct entry with an ID card and Monday closure. Holiday and semester rules differ, and New Year's Eve and the first and second lunar-new-year days require separate confirmation.
Do not plan to walk the roughly 2 km campus road from the main campus to the Science Park. Walk from Hexing Road Station to the Science Park south gate or take a taxi. A holiday visitor minibus may connect the main campus and Science Park, with a fare of around CNY 1 per person; departures may vary by day.

Museum rules and equipment safety
Do not touch exhibits, use flash or bring water and drinks inside; storage is available at the entrance. Baby strollers and scooters are also not allowed inside, so arrange them and personal items outside if travelling with a child.
Scan exhibit QR codes with a phone for free audio explanations. A rented guide is a separate option, currently listed at about CNY 20 per person. The outdoor rocket-and-missile plaza is exposed to wind, sun and cold; watch the ground and barriers, and keep photographs within the safety boundary.
