Yanzhou Island is a coastal island town in Huidong County, reached directly by Yanzhou Bridge without a ferry. Baisha Village is useful for mangroves, Wanzai Village for Colourful Rock Beach, and Heipaijiao and Guanyin Mountain Wind Farm for coast and sunset routes.
The island’s beaches, mangroves and wind-farm hill are free, with no general entrance ticket. Mangrove boat rides cost around CNY 30 per person, while offshore fishing costs around CNY 200–300 per boat. Sites are accessible throughout the day and should be planned around tide times, sunrise and sunset.

One-day easy route
Baisha Village mangroves → Heipaijiao → Guanyin Mountain Wind Farm for sunset. Use morning or late afternoon for wetland and hill stops, avoiding long exposed time at the rocky shore around midday.
Two days and one night: first visit
Day one: sunrise at Colourful Rock Beach → Wanzai Beach → Heipaijiao walk → Wind Farm sunset. Day two: mangrove birdwatching boat ride → traditional salt fields → return. This gives sunrise, rock coast, wetland and salt fields their own time windows.
Family tidal-flat route
Yangwu Beach → Wanzai tidal flats → Dutou Beach → seafood dinner. Plan around the one to two hours before low tide, and avoid outer rocks and cliff edges.

Driving and island movement
The drive from Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Dongguan takes around 1.5–2.5 hours. Navigate to specific stops such as Baisha Village or Wanzai Beach. Some island roads are narrow, so self-driving suits visitors comfortable with rural roads.
High-speed rail and local transport
From Huidong Station or Huidongnan Station, shared taxis or private taxis take around 40 minutes, at about CNY 50–60 per person. E-bike rental costs around CNY 45–60 per day; local three-wheelers cost about CNY 10–20 per ride.
Know before you go
Rocks, tide and mosquitoes
Heipaijiao and Colourful Rock Beach are slippery and can have sharp oyster shells, so wear non-slip shoes. Watch waves and incoming tides, and do not remain near outer cliff areas. Mangroves and tidal flats have many mosquitoes, making long sleeves, trousers and insect repellent important.
Supplies, parking and facilities
Large supermarkets are limited, so bring water, snacks, sun protection and tidal-flat tools. Villages have free or regulated parking; do not pay for unnecessary roadside parking because of claims that the road ahead is too narrow. Wild-beach facilities are basic, so bring a change of clothes and wash items.
