Plan at a glance
Start at the Main South Visitor Center
Moergle River Scenic Area (莫尔格勒河景区) is in the grasslands of Chen Barag Banner, where the river winds through meadows. When the seasonal sightseeing bus is operating, board at the Main South Visitor Center for the viewpoints; in the off-season, if the park notice says the bus is not running, drive in only under that season’s vehicle-access rules. The park also has a separate visitor center to the north; these are two different entrances.
Entry and tickets
The admission ticket and sightseeing bus may be sold separately, so check what each ticket includes. The official website lists entry from 08:00, ticket sales ending at 17:00, and last entry at 17:10. Operating hours and transfers can vary by season, so check the current notice and return departures on the day.
Check reservations and activity tickets
Check the day’s ticket page or entrance information for reservation requirements, whether the sightseeing bus is included, and whether horse riding or speedboat rides cost extra. During holidays and peak season, confirm which activities are open and whether queues are expected; one ticket may not cover every experience.

Three official stops for river views
The official viewing stations are Moergen (莫尔根), Ajinai (阿吉奈), and Haolin Wendu Ri (浩林温都日). They are spread along the grassland valley and are not a short walk from the main visitor center. To see several viewpoints, choose a sightseeing-bus route that is open that day; if time is limited, focus on the Third Viewing Platform at Haolin Wendu Ri.
Haolin Wendu Ri is higher up, and its platform looks down on the valley as the Moergle River bends through the grassland. Moergen and Ajinai are stops along the way, where you can see the river, meadows, and pastoral landscape around each station. Whether you can get off and board a later bus depends on that day’s ticket and departure schedule.
Plan nearby attractions separately
The Golden Horde Mongolian Tribe Scenic Area and Tianxia Grassland Scenic Area are separate attractions, not sightseeing-bus stops. If you want to add a cultural experience, horse riding, or another activity, check its operator’s hours, fees, and transport first; these activities are not automatically included in the Moergle River Scenic Area ticket.
For an in-town pine-forest walk about 2 km from central Hailar, see Hailar National Forest Park.
Build your day
Full South Line by sightseeing bus
When the bus is operating, board at the Main South Visitor Center and stop at Moergen, Ajinai, and Haolin Wendu Ri in the order open that day, then return on a scheduled departure. The full South Line takes about 2–3 hours, plus walking and waiting time if you get off at several stops. The short option goes directly to the Third Viewing Platform at Haolin Wendu Ri and returns by bus. Confirm the operating season, departures, and vehicle-access rules in the current notice.
Go straight to the Third Viewing Platform if time is limited
If you only want the high viewpoint, check on a bus operating day whether a departure goes directly to Haolin Wendu Ri. Walk up to the platform on the open trail and return by bus. Do not attempt to walk back to the entrance across the grassland. Use the designated sightseeing-bus service and confirm the return arrangements before heading to the viewpoint.
Get there
Drive to an official entrance
Search for “莫尔格勒河景区南门” (Moergle River Scenic Area South Gate) or “莫尔格勒河景区主游客中心” (Moergle River Scenic Area Main Visitor Center), then follow on-site signs to the parking area. Driving may require a separate reservation or be restricted during peak season. If you have not confirmed vehicle access, leave the car at the visitor center and use the official sightseeing bus; do not drive onto grassland or an unopened dirt road.
Check transfers from Hailar
Direct services from Hailar Airport, the railway station, and the coach station have operated in the past, but schedules vary with the season and traffic. If you are not driving, call the scenic-area information line at 0470-2901888 to confirm whether the service is running that day, where to board, and how to return. The South Line transfer route does not apply when the sightseeing bus is out of service.
Know before you go
Confirm entry and return times
Check the park notice on the day of your visit and confirm ticket-sales cutoff, last entry, and return departures separately. Last entry, the park’s closing time, and the sightseeing bus’s final departure are different times; do not use a later closing time to plan your entry. If you miss the official return bus, do not leave across the grassland or on an unopened road.
Expect wind and stay in designated viewing areas
Grassland weather changes quickly, and wind can affect both comfort and visibility. Bring a windproof layer and secure your hat. Stay at open stations and on marked trails; do not cross fences, enter private pastures, stop where parking is prohibited, or drive onto the grass.
Ask about accessibility in advance
If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or needs a route with fewer steps, call ahead to ask whether the Main South Visitor Center, bus, and intended stops can provide the needed assistance, and whether the restrooms are suitable.
