Plan at a glance

Free waterfront walking and paid cruises

Dreaming of Luling is beside the Hou River in Ji’an’s Jizhou District. Navigate to the Dreaming of Luling Visitor Service Centre. The public waterfront can be entered free of charge without a reservation; cruises require a separate ticket, with a one-way fare of about CNY 88 and a round-trip fare of about CNY 99. Children under 1.2 metres may be admitted free under the day’s ticket rules.

Waterfront and cruise hours

The public waterfront is open all day, year-round. Day cruises generally run from 10:00 to 16:30, while night cruises generally run from 18:30 to 20:40. Programme content, boat times, prices, and light installations can change, so check the operating details before boarding.

Choose your visit

A waterfront walk without boarding

A walk along the waterfront takes about one hour and passes period-style buildings, light installations, Qindao (琴岛), and the Jiulong Lantern (九龙灯). This option suits visitors who want evening scenery, have limited time, or do not plan to take a boat; the walking area can be visited separately from the paid cruise.

A night cruise and its light scenes

The night cruise is the main experience. The eight immersive scenes currently listed for the attraction are Jiuli Hualong (九鲤化龙), Datang Gefei (大唐歌飞), Shanshui Shijing (山水诗境), Shiqi Zhuangyuan (十七状元), Jieyi Wenzhang (节义文章), Langlang Shusheng (朗朗书声), Yuguo Tianqing (雨过天晴), and Fengwu Luling (凤舞庐陵). The performances draw on Luling history and local culture; check the evening’s programme and boat connections on site.

Who will enjoy it

Families, couples, and visitors who want an easy evening of contemporary light art and Ji’an scenery are a good fit. This is a modern night-tour attraction built around light shows and water-based performances, rather than a preserved historical site. Qindao (琴岛), the Jiulong Lantern (九龙灯), and the water-based performances are the main visual attractions.

For a separate daytime ceramics-and-heritage route, see Jizhou Kiln Scenic Area.

For a daytime island-and-academy visit, see Bailuzhou Academy.

Build your day

The one-hour waterfront route

From the visitor service centre, walk along the waterfront past the pavilions, light installations, Qindao (琴岛), and the Jiulong Lantern (九龙灯), then return along the riverfront. The route does not require a boat and works well as an evening extension after another attraction in the city.

The 2–3 hour night-cruise route

Arrive at about 18:30, confirm the evening ticket, boat time, and boarding point, then take a one-way night cruise to see the main light scenes before leaving along the waterfront. Night cruises generally operate from 18:30 to 20:40, but the performance and boarding sequence can change.

Food and daytime connections

Restaurants inside the attraction can be relatively expensive and vary in quality. After the cruise, look in Nengren Lane or Rulinli for Luling snacks such as Ji’an fried rice noodles, sugar paintings, and glutinous rice cakes. A daytime visit to Bailuzhou Academy or Jizhou Kiln needs separate transport and should be planned independently of the night route.

Get there

Bus and taxi

Take bus 501, 60, or 62 to the area; a taxi from central Ji’an costs about CNY 15. Use the Dreaming of Luling Visitor Service Centre and the waterfront entrance as navigation targets, and confirm the separate entrances for walking and cruises after arrival.

Driving and parking

Navigate to the Dreaming of Luling Visitor Service Centre car park. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes, with a 24-hour maximum charge of CNY 15. Spaces can be tight and traffic can move slowly during holidays, so include parking time when planning around a cruise.

Know before you go

Tickets and programme changes

Treat the free waterfront and paid night cruise separately. Confirm the children’s ticket rule, one-way or round-trip fare, and any same-day discount at the ticket point. The eight-scene lineup, performance order, and boat schedule can change, and not every scene is guaranteed to appear every night.

Photography and evening food

The waterfront pavilions and buildings work well for riverside photos, while the boat deck offers views of the lights on both banks. Qindao (琴岛) and the Jiulong Lantern (九龙灯) make clear fixed viewpoints. After the night visit, Nengren Lane and Rulinli are more useful for local snacks than the attraction’s own dining area; holidays can bring heavier crowds.
