Plan at a glance

Start from Ciping and visit by district

Jinggangshan Scenic Area is spread across several mountain districts. Ciping is the practical base for accommodation, meals, and visitor transport, so first-time visitors can start and finish each day there and use the sightseeing buses to reach Huangyangjie, Longtan, Baizhuyuan, and the Red Army Mint.

The nearby Jinggangshan Revolution Museum and the Panorama Exhibition Hall have their own opening and visit arrangements, so allow separate time for them. The main scenic area itself is best planned by district rather than as one compact walk.

Tickets and timing

For 2026, the listed full-price ticket is CNY 165 in the peak season from March 1 to October 31, or CNY 150 in the off-season from November 1 to February 28. Online full-price tickets are listed at CNY 160 in peak season and CNY 145 in the off-season. The sightseeing bus costs about CNY 80 and is valid for five days; a one-way cableway ride at Longtan is about CNY 30–60.

Opening and last-entry arrangements are not completely uniform across Jinggangshan’s districts. Confirm the last sightseeing bus, cableway operation, and entry arrangements on the day of your visit.

Choose your visit

Huangyangjie for cloud views and history

Huangyangjie suits visitors who want broad mountain views alongside a major revolutionary landmark. The main stops are the cloud-sea viewpoints, the historic sentry area, and the “A Single Spark Can Start a Prairie Fire” stone stele. Morning is often a practical time to place it in your sightseeing-bus plan before connecting to another district.

Longtan for pools, waterfalls, and steps

Longtan is known for its five pools and eighteen waterfalls, with a trail that follows pools, cascades, and mountain steps. It suits visitors who want to spend a substantial half-day in a wooded valley; travellers with average fitness can include the cableway to reduce the amount of climbing.

Wuzhifeng and Ciping’s revolutionary sites

Wuzhifeng (Five Finger Peak, 五指峰) is the area’s best-known high mountain view and the landscape featured on the CNY 100 banknote from the fourth series of the renminbi. In Ciping, Yicui Lake Park, Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, and Nanshan Torch Square (南山火炬广场) offer shorter walks and different photo settings, from a town lake to a large torch overlooking Ciping.

Build your day

A half-day to one-day Ciping walking route

When time is limited, start near the Jinggangshan Revolution Museum and walk to Yicui Lake Park, Mao Zedong’s Former Residence in Ciping, and Nanshan Torch Square (南山火炬广场). The route stays within Ciping and is mainly on foot; it does not include the distant mountain districts such as Huangyangjie or Longtan. Finish back in Ciping for a meal or overnight stay.

A 1–2 day Huangyangjie–Baizhuyuan–Longtan combination route

Leave Ciping early and arrange Huangyangjie, Baizhuyuan and the Red Army Mint, and Longtan according to the day’s sightseeing-bus service and transfer direction. The official sightseeing-bus A route runs Main Terminal → Xiaojing → Longtan → Baizhuyuan → Huangyangjie, so the actual order of this combination should follow the buses operating that day. At Longtan, you can walk down and take the cableway up; the cableway is charged separately. The full combination takes about one to two days and can be split across two days.

Return buses and district transfers

Remote sights depend on the sightseeing buses, and transfers on the Bajiaolou route and other distant lines can take time. After each stop, check the bus back toward Ciping and its last departure. The CNY 80 sightseeing-bus pass remains useful over several days, while private-car access to core areas such as Huangyangjie and Longtan may be restricted during busy periods.

Get there

From Jinggangshan Railway Station to Ciping

From Jinggangshan Railway Station, take the bus to Ciping for about CNY 5, or use a taxi. Once in Ciping, use the visitor transport centre, your accommodation, or a sightseeing-bus stop as the starting point for each district. Shorter town routes can be walked; Huangyangjie and Longtan require the scenic-area sightseeing buses.

Driving and parking

If you drive, leave the car at your hotel in Ciping or at a visitor-centre car park. Individual sights generally have parking areas, but access to core districts can be restricted by holiday traffic and visitor numbers. The mountain roads to Huangyangjie and Longtan have many bends, and you may still need to transfer to a sightseeing bus after driving to the district.

Know before you go

Steps, walking, and the last bus

Expect mountain paths and steps, especially at Longtan. Wear comfortable, non-slip walking shoes. The Longtan cableway can reduce the number of steps, but it is not included in the main ticket or sightseeing-bus fare; the last bus and transfer time can determine whether you return to Ciping smoothly.

Food and shopping

Ciping’s Tianjie and Wujing Road have the largest concentration of restaurants. Local dishes include stir-fried pork with Jinggang bamboo shoots, Jinggang blood duck, red rice, and pumpkin soup; ask for a mild level of spice if needed. Check printed menu prices before ordering, especially when a dish is recommended verbally, and take care with roadside products labelled “wild honey” or “Red Army coins.”
