Separate the scenic-area ticket from the museum

Jizhou Kiln Scenic Area is in Yonghe Town, Ji’an County. Enter through the Jizhou Kiln Visitor Service Centre, which handles ticket sales and sightseeing-bus transfers. The scenic-area ticket is about CNY 40. The Jizhou Kiln Museum inside the grounds is free, but it is closed on Mondays, so the museum and the wider scenic area should be planned separately.

A one- to four-hour visit

The museum and Song Street (宋街) fit into a 1–2 hour visit. Adding the Maoanling Dragon Kiln Ruins and Benjue Pagoda creates a fuller route of about 3–4 hours. The scenic area is currently listed at about 08:30–17:30, with last admission at 17:00. The pottery-experience centre’s opening hours, prices, and session duration can change.

Leaf-pattern temmoku ware (木叶天目) and ceramic displays

The Jizhou Kiln Museum is the best place to begin with the area’s craft and objects. Leaf-pattern temmoku ware (木叶天目), paper-cut decoration (剪纸贴花), and tortoiseshell-glazed ware (玳瑁天目) are among the key ceramic traditions. Leaf-pattern temmoku uses natural leaves during firing to create visible leaf and vein patterns on black-glazed bowls; visitors interested in ceramics and Song-era aesthetics may want to make the museum a priority.

The dragon kiln ruins and Benjue Pagoda

The Maoanling Dragon Kiln Ruins provide an on-site look at the structure of an ancient ceramic kiln. Benjue Pagoda is one of the scenic area’s clearest architectural landmarks. Together, these stops add an outdoor archaeology-and-architecture layer to the indoor object displays.

Song Street (宋街), the wharf, and pottery making

Song Street (宋街) is suited to a walk, a meal, and a look at the period-style buildings. Danshadu Wharf (丹砂渡码头) sits by the river and can offer a more open view in good weather. The pottery centre may offer wheel throwing, glazing, and painting for families or visitors who want to make something themselves; the specific activities, prices, and completion time depend on the day.

For a nearby mountain-and-temple stop, see Qingyuan Mountain.

Build your day

The 1–2 hour museum-and-street route

From the visitor service centre, first check whether the Jizhou Kiln Museum is open, then see the leaf-pattern temmoku ware (木叶天目), paper-cut decoration (剪纸贴花), and tortoiseshell-glazed ware (玳瑁天目) displays before walking to Song Street (宋街). On Monday, when the museum is closed, use the other open areas of the scenic site and follow the ticket arrangement for the wider grounds.

The 3–4 hour ruins route

Follow the fuller route from the Jizhou Kiln Museum to the Maoanling Dragon Kiln Ruins, Benjue Pagoda, and Song Street (宋街). The visitor centre is the transfer point for tickets and sightseeing buses; when you arrive, check the day’s bus stops and last service before deciding which sections to ride and which to walk.

Add a pottery session

If you choose wheel throwing, glazing, or painting, count the session as separate time in your day and ask about the total price, session duration, and how the finished piece will be delivered. A pottery session works best as an addition to the museum or ruins route when the centre is open.

Get there

Driving and public transport

Driving from central Ji’an or Ji’an West Station takes about 30 minutes. Navigate to the Jizhou Kiln Visitor Service Centre, where free parking is available. Public-transport routes are limited and irregular, and waiting can exceed one hour; if you are not driving, a taxi or ride-hailing car is more practical for the main journey.

Know before you go

Monday and ticket boundaries

The scenic-area ticket is about CNY 40. Free or discounted admission for visitors such as adults aged 65 and over or children under 1.2 metres depends on the required documents and the day’s ticket rules. The Jizhou Kiln Museum is free but closed on Mondays; confirm separately whether other areas and the sightseeing buses are operating.

Buying ceramics and eating

When buying ceramic pieces that require production or shipping, first confirm the total price, production time, and delivery method. Dongchanglou (东昌楼) near the visitor centre and Song Street serves Yonghe tofu; restaurant hours follow the day’s arrangements, and prices are generally considered reasonable for the area.

Walking and nearby connections

The scenic area is large, so the full route involves more walking and transfers than the museum-and-Song-Street option. Qingyuan Mountain can be a nearby addition, but it requires separate cross-attraction transport; calculate the driving time with the day’s navigation conditions rather than treating the scenic-area walking route as a connection.
