Plan at a glance

Enter from the Meibei visitor centre

Meibei Ancient Village is in Wenbei Township, Qingyuan District. The main entrance is the Meibei Ancient Village Visitor Centre, shown locally as “渼陂古村游客中心.” Current online adult tickets are about CNY 45; students and older visitors should bring the documents needed for the applicable half-price rule. Advance booking is usually not required, but the price shown on the day is final.

How much time to allow

Yongmutang, the 900-metre ancient street, the Site of the February 7 Meeting (二七会议旧址), Wanshou Palace, and the old camphor grove form a 1–2 hour main route. Adding Meibei Hechang Educational Activity Centre (渼陂禾场研学基地), the Fushui River, and the old lanes takes about 3–4 hours. It is currently open about 09:00–17:30, subject to change.

Yongmutang and the ancient street

Yongmutang, the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall, is the village’s clearest architectural focus. Its wood carving, stone carving, and courtyard details suit visitors interested in local building traditions. The 900-metre ancient street links old shopfronts, stone paving, and a continuous village streetscape, making it a good choice for architectural photography and a short walk.

The Site of the February 7 Meeting (二七会议旧址), Wanshou Palace, and Fushui River

The Site of the February 7 Meeting (二七会议旧址) adds a local historical chapter, while Wanshou Palace and the old camphor grove fit naturally after the ancient street. The Fushui River is the village’s main waterside view; in the early morning or late afternoon, the river can provide reflections of the village and a quieter place to pause.

Families and study visits

Most of the village’s main paths are level stone paving, so the core route works well for families with children or older visitors. When open, Meibei Hechang Educational Activity Centre (渼陂禾场研学基地) may offer activities such as a rural train; if it is closed that day, use the time for the village’s main buildings, old street, meeting site, and riverside.

For another Gan-style ancient-village route, see Diaoyuan Ancient Village.

For a nearby mountain-and-temple route, see Qingyuan Mountain.

Build your day

The 1–2 hour architecture route

From the visitor centre, follow the signs to Liang Clan Ancestral Hall (Yongmutang), the 900-metre ancient street, the Site of the February 7 Meeting (二七会议旧址), Wanshou Palace, and finally the old camphor grove. See the ancestral hall’s wood and stone details first, then use the street for the village setting, the meeting site for its historical context, and the grove as the final walking stop.

The 3–4 hour river and study route

Add Meibei Hechang Educational Activity Centre (渼陂禾场研学基地) to the main architecture route, then continue to the Fushui River and the old lanes. If the activities are not open that day, use the time for Yongmutang, the ancient street, the meeting site, and the riverbank.

Arrange the return vehicle

A return ride-hailing car may be difficult to find, so drivers can leave directly from the village car park while visitors without a car should arrange the return with their driver in advance. Qingyuan Mountain can be combined as a nearby stop, but the two attractions require separate transport; calculate the driving time with the day’s navigation conditions.

Get there

Driving from Ji’an or Ji’an West Station

Driving from central Ji’an or Ji’an West Station takes about 20–30 minutes. Navigate to the Meibei Ancient Village Visitor Centre; a free car park is available at the village entrance. If you plan to continue to Qingyuan Mountain or Diaoyuan, arrange each leg and the return vehicle separately.

Bus connections

From Qingyuan Bus Station, buses 701 and 702 run directly to the village, with a journey of about 40 minutes. After parking or arriving at the visitor centre, the main village route is on foot. Walking is easy inside the village, but you’ll need separate transport for nearby attractions.

Know before you go

Opening hours and activities

It is currently open about 09:00–17:30. Ticket prices, group offers, holiday activities, and study programmes can change. The main roads are suitable for walking, while the rural train and similar activities follow the opening arrangements on the day.

The main visit is centred on Yongmutang, the 900-metre ancient street, the Site of the February 7 Meeting (二七会议旧址), Wanshou Palace, and the Fushui River. Allow extra time only if the educational activity centre and its activities are open.

Food and return planning

Food in the village is usually more expensive than in the city. If you want to control spending, eat in the city before visiting or stop at Lao Cao Farmhouse on the way back; check the menu and prices before ordering. Holiday queues, dishes, and restaurant hours can change.
