Free entry and transport to the core area
Qingyuan Mountain is in Hedong Town, Qingyuan District. Navigate to the Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Centre. Admission is free and no reservation is required; it is currently open about 08:30–17:00. Private cars cannot continue into the inner area, so walk or take the sightseeing bus, which costs about CNY 10 for a return ride.
A relaxed mountain-and-temple visit
For a first visit, combine Yangming Academy, Jingju Temple, and the reservoir lakeside in one easy route of about 1–2 hours. Jingju Temple is currently listed at about 08:30–17:30, while the wider scenic area closes earlier, so check both timings when you arrive.

Yangming Academy and Jingju Temple
Yangming Academy is Qingyuan Mountain’s main cultural stop. Jingju Temple dates from the Tang dynasty and has Yan Zhenqing’s calligraphic “Zuguan” stele. Choose this option if you are interested in academies, temples, and local cultural history rather than only the scenery.
The reservoir and lakeside pavilion
The reservoir provides the clearest waterside pause in the scenic area, and the pavilion in the middle of the lake can serve as a photo foreground. On a clear morning, the water often looks clearer, making the lakeside a natural final stop after the academy and temple.
Who should consider the unofficial trail
Experienced hikers who are comfortable with unmarked mountain paths and slippery ground after rain may consider the trail from beside the Qingyuan Mountain Zoo car park, via Guangming Tower and down past Jingju Temple, before continuing to Yangming Academy and the reservoir. It is about 6 kilometres and takes 3–4 hours. This is not a standard scenic-area route. Consider it only after confirming that the access point is open and trail conditions are normal; do not enter on rainy days.

The 1–2 hour sightseeing-bus route
From the visitor centre, take the sightseeing bus, costing about CNY 10 for a return ride, to the core area. Visit Yangming Academy first, then Jingju Temple, and finish beside the reservoir. With Jingju Temple listed at about 08:30–17:30 and the scenic area at about 08:30–17:00, visit the temple earlier if you are arriving near the end of the day. This route does not pass the zoo car park or Guangming Tower.
The 3–4 hour experienced-hiker route
Experienced hikers can start from the unofficial trail beside the Qingyuan Mountain Zoo car park, climb via Guangming Tower, descend past Jingju Temple, and then continue to Yangming Academy and the reservoir. The route is about 6 kilometres and includes climbing and uneven ground; the unofficial section is separate from the sightseeing-bus route and the level walking area in the core zone.
Continue to a nearby attraction
After visiting, return to the visitor centre or car park before arranging a vehicle to Jizhou Kiln or Meibei Ancient Village. These stops require separate transport, and driving time should be calculated with the day’s navigation conditions. Qingyuan Mountain’s internal sightseeing bus and walking route do not connect directly to those attractions.

Bus and driving
From Ji’an, take bus 208, 7, or 8; the fare is about CNY 2. If driving, navigate to Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area and use the free parking. After arrival, transfer to the sightseeing bus or walk, as private cars cannot continue into the inner scenic area.

Opening hours and walking conditions
The scenic area is currently listed at about 08:30–17:00, and Jingju Temple at about 08:30–17:30; temple hours may differ from the main entrance. The relaxed route still includes walking, while the 6-kilometre unofficial trail has climbs and slippery sections. Wear non-slip shoes and cancel or shorten the trail when the weather is poor.
Photography and food
The lakeside pavilion and the red walls of Jingju Temple are clear photo spots, and the reservoir water often looks clearer on a sunny morning. Food options inside the scenic area are limited and can be relatively expensive; nearby restaurants may have holiday waits. Tianyu Jiayan (天玉家宴) serves dishes such as lion’s-head meatballs and crayfish, while Binjiang Gantiao Fen (滨江干挑粉), near Ji’an Railway Station, is another local option; opening hours can change.
Plan transport between attractions
Qingyuan Mountain can be combined with Jizhou Kiln or Meibei Ancient Village, but arrange the vehicle and timing for each leg separately. Private cars are not allowed in the inner area, and the sightseeing bus serves only the scenic area’s core zone. Cross-attraction transport follows the day’s navigation conditions, while rainy-day operation follows the scenic area’s notices.
