Tickets and timing
Shennong Mountain is in Ziling Town, Qinyang, Jiaozuo, Henan. Set the destination to the Shennong Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Centre. Allow about 3–4 hours for the easier route, or 5–6 hours for a route that includes the mountain climb and the main section of Longji Great Wall.
The entrance ticket is about CNY 65, the sightseeing bus costs about CNY 25 for a round trip, and the cableway costs about CNY 70 for a round trip. Choose the ticket combination that covers the admission, bus and cableway you need. Advance reservations are usually not required, and tickets can be bought online or on site. In the busy season, opening hours are about 07:00–17:30; follow the day's arrangement.
How to plan the visit
Shennong Mountain allows a choice between an easier summit route and a longer hike. The full Longji Great Wall route is about 11.5 km, with sections so narrow that only one person can pass sideways. If you mainly want the ridge views, take the cableway uphill and walk the key section, choosing the length of the walk according to your energy on the day.

Longji Great Wall and Zijin Peak
Longji Great Wall follows a natural ridge with steep slopes on both sides. It is the part of Shennong Mountain that demands the most stamina and attention to your footing. Zijin Peak is about 1,028 m above sea level, while the white-barked pines at Baisong Ridge and the mountain views make good stops after the ascent.
Macaques and mountain culture
The Macaque Garden and wild macaques on the mountain offer a different kind of experience for visitors who enjoy watching animals and are comfortable with changing mountain paths. Macaques may grab food, so keep food secured and do not approach or feed them.

3–4 hours: easier summit route
Take the sightseeing bus to Yunyang Stockade, pass Shennong Culture Square and continue by bus to the trailhead, then take the cableway uphill. Follow Yitian Gate, Zhongtian Gate and Nantian Gate to Zijin Peak, visit the key section of Longji Great Wall, and return by cableway and sightseeing bus.
5–6 hours: walking route
Take the sightseeing bus from Yunyang Stockade, then start walking. Pass the Macaque Garden, climb to Zijin Peak and continue along Longji Great Wall. The trail down on the other side is steep and puts more strain on the knees; assess your fitness before choosing this route and leave undeveloped branches toward Longzi Gate and other areas outside the itinerary.

Driving and shuttle buses
If driving, set the destination to Shennong Mountain Scenic Area. Parking is about CNY 10–20 per day. A tourist bus to the scenic area is available near the North Square of Jiaozuo Railway Station, but departures are limited; there may be only one bus around 08:10 each morning. Confirm the outward and return buses together.
Inside the scenic area, first use the sightseeing bus to Yunyang Stockade or the trailhead, then choose the cableway or walking route. There are still walking sections between the upper cableway station, Zijin Peak and Longji Great Wall; the cableway covers only part of the mountain route.
Know before you go
Cableway, ridge and weather
The cableway may have queues lasting several hours on public holidays, and each car holds about two people. Aim to arrive by 08:00 if possible. Strong winds, thunderstorms and heavy rain may stop the cableway, so be prepared to switch to an open walking route if the weather changes.
The narrowest part of Longji Great Wall has room only to pass sideways. Follow the marked route and avoid undeveloped branches such as those toward Longzi Gate. Do not carry food in transparent plastic bags, and do not feed the macaques by hand. Supplies on the mountain are limited, so bring water and simple food in advance.
