Tickets and timing
Yuntai Mountain is in Anshang Village, Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo, Henan. Most independent visitors start from the Baijiayan visitor and parking area, then transfer to the scenic-area sightseeing bus. Allow 6–8 hours for a complete visit. If you want to cover Red Stone Gorge, Tanpu Gorge / Xiaozhaigou, Quanpu Gorge and Zhuyu Peak at a comfortable pace, stay overnight in the scenic area and plan for two days.
The current standard adult ticket is CNY 120, plus a CNY 60 sightseeing-bus ticket, for a total of CNY 180. The admission ticket and sightseeing-bus ticket are valid for three consecutive days from the selected visit date. Chinese ID-card holders usually do not need an advance reservation and can enter after ID verification. Visitors using foreign passports should confirm before departure whether their passport can be used directly for purchase and entry verification, whether a Chinese mobile number is required, and which payment methods are accepted through Yuntai Mountain's official ticketing channel or an on-site window. Opening hours are about 07:00–17:30, with entry usually stopping around 17:00; the final entry time and on-site operations may change.
How to plan the visit
The scenic area is spread out, so use the internal transport system between Red Stone Gorge, Quanpu Gorge and Zhuyu Peak. With only one day, prioritise Red Stone Gorge and Tanpu Gorge. In the afternoon, decide whether to continue to the Zhuyu Peak / Fenghuang Ridge area according to the time left, your energy and cableway operations; save Quanpu Gorge's longer walk for a second day if needed.
Because the admission and sightseeing-bus tickets remain valid for three consecutive days, staying in the Anshang service area makes it easier to separate the water scenery from the mountain routes. A two-day plan can put Red Stone Gorge, Tanpu Gorge and Quanpu Gorge on Day 1, followed by Zhuyu Peak and Fenghuang Ridge on Day 2.

Gorges and streams
Red Stone Gorge is a roughly 1.5–2 km one-way gorge walk, with red rock walls, pools, streams and waterfalls concentrated along one route. Tanpu Gorge, also known as Xiaozhaigou, follows a stream with springs, waterfalls and pools, making it a good choice for visitors who want water scenery and gorge walking.
Seasonal waterfall and mountain-top routes
Quanpu Gorge is about 3 km one way and ends at Yuntai Waterfall, which has an approximately 314 m drop. Water is usually more impressive during the July–September rainy season or after rain; in the dry season, the flow may be very small or even stop. Zhuyu Peak is about 1,297.6 m above sea level, with Xuandi Palace, a statue of Wang Wei and Taihang Mountain views near the top. It suits visitors who are comfortable with continuous steps, ridge walking or a cableway combination.
The Fenghuang Ridge Cableway and Zhuyu Peak Cableway are two separate systems. The former serves the Fenghuang Ridge area, while the latter serves the Zhuyu Peak direction. When planning the ascent, combine the sightseeing bus, the two cableways and ridge walking according to the day's route and operating status.
Build your day
6–8 hours: one-day route
Take the scenic-area bus to Red Stone Gorge first thing in the morning and aim to enter by 08:30. Follow the one-way route through Bailong Waterfall, Yixiantian, Heilong Pool and Zhongyuan No. 1 Bridge. There are still steps and walking sections at the exit. The Red Stone Gorge Escalator at the exit consists of five outdoor escalator sections and costs about CNY 20 per person; it only reduces part of the uphill walk and does not take you directly to ground level.
After Red Stone Gorge, take the scenic-area bus to Xiaozhaigou and visit Tanpu Gorge. If time remains in the afternoon, continue to the Zhuyu Peak and Fenghuang Ridge area. The Fenghuang Ridge Cableway and Zhuyu Peak Cableway serve different sections, and the Fenghuang Ridge Cableway does not take you directly to Zhuyu Peak. Combine the bus, cableways and ridge walking according to the day's route to reach stops such as Xuandi Palace and the Wang Wei statue. The complete walking route takes about 4–5 hours, so do not add too many other stops to a one-day schedule.
One official recommended combination includes the Fenghuang Ridge Cableway, Chongyang Pavilion, ridge walking, the Zhuyu Peak Cableway and Diecai Caves. The exact direction, transfers, cableway operations and ticket arrangements follow the day's on-site instructions.
Two-day route and Quanpu Gorge
On Day 1, visit Red Stone Gorge, Tanpu Gorge and Quanpu Gorge. Enter Quanpu Gorge from the Xiaozhaigou stop. The walk is about 3 km each way, or nearly 6 km round trip. A sightseeing cart covers the first 1 km; the current reference fare is CNY 10 for a round trip, and visitors still need to walk about 2 km to the main waterfall area.
On Day 2, visit Zhuyu Peak and Fenghuang Ridge. The two cableways connect different sections, and the walking route takes about 4–5 hours. Two routes at the top lead separately toward Guandi Temple and Fenghuang Ridge, so confirm which direction matches your intended stop before setting out. If your energy and time allow, add Monkey Valley in the afternoon; its opening status and sightseeing-bus schedule are subject to the current operation period.
Get there
From Zhengzhou and by high-speed rail
From Zhengzhou or another city, plan to take a high-speed train to Xiuwu West Railway Station, then change to a tourist shuttle bus to Yuntai Mountain. The shuttle ride takes about 40 minutes. Check the train and shuttle schedules for your travel date because the shuttle timetable may change.
If driving, set the destination to “Yuntai Mountain Baijiayan Parking Lot.” Parking is about CNY 20 per day as a reference, after which you transfer to the scenic-area bus. Red Stone Gorge, Quanpu Gorge and Zhuyu Peak are not within walking distance of the parking area. The Xiaozhaigou stop is the practical access point for Quanpu Gorge, while the Anshang service area is useful for meals or accommodation.
Know before you go
Surfaces, supplies and effort
The paths in Red Stone Gorge can be slippery at any time of year, and there are no toilets once you are inside the gorge. Use the facilities at the entrance and carry drinking water. Quanpu Gorge can be misty after rain, its walkways may be wet, and the round trip is nearly 6 km. Zhuyu Peak has continuous steps and limited supplies near the top, so choose between walking and cableways according to your energy on the day.
Tickets for international visitors
Visitors using foreign passports should confirm before departure whether their passport can be used directly for ticket purchase and entry verification, whether a Chinese mobile number is required, and which payment methods are accepted through Yuntai Mountain's official ticketing channel or an on-site window. Save the Chinese names “Baijiayan,” “Xiaozhaigou,” “Red Stone Gorge,” “Quanpu Gorge” and “Zhuyu Peak” on your phone because the scenic area has many transfer points. Do not assume that English signage covers every part of the route.
Seasonal and operating conditions
Yuntai Waterfall depends mainly on rainfall during the July–September rainy season. Outside that period, it may be only a small stream or may stop flowing. The Zhuyu Peak and Fenghuang Ridge cableways may both stop in strong winds or other bad weather, and they may close relatively early in the afternoon. The Red Stone Gorge Escalator, sightseeing cart, glass walkway and some other operating attractions cost extra; they are not included in the CNY 120 admission ticket or the CNY 60 sightseeing-bus ticket.
Schedules and operating status for the scenic-area buses, both cableways, the sightseeing cart, Monkey Valley and specific performances may change with the season, weather and on-site arrangements. If visiting Quanpu Gorge and Zhuyu Peak on the same day, check the day's bus and cableway operations first.
