Plan at a glance

Location, entrance, and hours

Jinan Zoo is within the Jinniu Park area. The north gate is close to the giant panda and elephant areas and is the more practical entrance for a first visit. Adult admission is CNY 25; the entrance is open roughly 06:30–17:30, while animal houses generally operate 08:30–17:00. From Jiluo Road Station on Jinan Metro Line 2, Exit A, walk about 600 metres.

Time needed and who it suits

Allow 2–3 hours for pandas, elephants, and the main animal houses. It suits a short family outing in the city and visitors interested in animal observation. Walking distances are long, and animal activity depends on weather, temperature, and each house’s schedule.

Choose your visit

Pandas, elephants, and animal houses

After entering through the north gate, start with the pandas and elephants, then choose other houses from the park map. Giant pandas and young elephants are often more active at certain times, but these are typical patterns rather than fixed shows; visitors who want more species should prioritize the hours when the houses are open.

Families and an easy-paced visit

Families can focus on pandas, elephants, the houses children are most interested in, and rest points, adjusting the scope to the group’s condition. Photographers may prefer the morning or cooler weather to reduce waiting while animals rest around midday.

Build your day

2–3-hour standard route

Enter through the north gate, see the pandas and elephants, then follow the main paths to selected primate, large-mammal, and other open houses. Finish near the north gate for a rest or exit. Some houses may undergo maintenance on Monday mornings, so use the open areas listed that day to set the order.

A child-friendly pace

Start with the animals children most want to see, then place water and rest in the middle of the route instead of walking continuously for a long stretch. Houses usually finish admitting visitors around 17:00; if you arrive late in the afternoon, shorten the route because the entrance’s hours are longer than every animal house’s hours.

Get there

Arrival and local transport

Take Jinan Metro Line 2 to Jiluo Road Station, Exit A, and walk about 600 metres to the north gate. Buses and taxis also reach the Jinniu Park area. Drivers should check the zoo and nearby car parks; weekend spaces are limited.

Use Jinan Zoo North Gate as the navigation target, which connects more directly to the panda and elephant houses. The zoo is mainly a walking attraction, so families with babies should bring a stroller or plan rest stops.

Practical considerations

Do not feed the animals yourself; violations may result in a CNY 50–200 fine, and food must not be pushed into the enclosures. Animal activity changes with weather, so observe on site rather than relying on fixed times found online.

Treat ticket hours and animal-house hours separately, and expect possible maintenance on Monday mornings. In summer, bring sun protection and water; on holidays, look at the crowds at the north gate and popular houses before setting the route.
