Lake area and entrances
Daming Lake lies north of Jinan’s old city. The park gates are free to enter: the south gate is near Lao She Memorial Hall and Chaoran Tower, the southwest gate is convenient for Qushuiting Street, and the north gate is near the Xia Yuhe lantern display and Beiji Pavilion slide. The lake area is open 05:00–22:00, while indoor venues, boats, and towers keep their own hours.
Tickets, boats, and time needed
The park is free. Chaoran Tower access costs CNY 40; boat options include a CNY 10 island boat to Lixia Pavilion in the lake and a CNY 50 boat for a lake or moat circuit. Allow about 1.5 hours for a quick visit or 3–4 hours for a first visit; if you want the tower, boat, and indoor venues, plan around each activity’s last ticket time.

Chaoran Tower and Lixia Pavilion
Chaoran Tower gives you a broad view over the old city and lake, and on a clear evening you can wait across the water for the lights around 19:30. Lixia Pavilion requires a boat to the island and suits visitors who want lake scenery, a historic pavilion, and Jinan literary stories in one visit.
Lao She Memorial Hall and the north shore
Lao She Memorial Hall is on the south side of the lake and follows its own opening hours. The Xia Yuhe lantern display and Beiji Pavilion slide on the north shore are better for a relaxed walk or a family stop. Visitors interested in architecture, water views, and photography can focus on Chaoran Tower, Lixia Pavilion, and shoreline reflections, while families can use the north gate area for a shorter stop.

Enter through the north gate, see the Xia Yuhe lantern display, then follow the shore toward the south side. View or enter Chaoran Tower before leaving through the south or southwest gate. This suits visitors who want the lake and its landmarks and plan to continue to Qushuiting Street.
3–4-hour highlights route
Enter through the south gate and visit Lao She Memorial Hall first. Walk to the Jiaxuan Shrine pier and take the CNY 10 island boat to Lixia Pavilion; after the island visit, follow the boat service to Tiegong Shrine Pier on the north shore, then walk past the Xia Yuhe lantern display and Beiji Pavilion slide before leaving through the north gate. The island boat is listed as operating roughly 09:00–17:00, so reach the pier by 16:30.
Evening lights route
If the main goal is Chaoran Tower’s lights, go to an open position across the lake or on the south shore after 19:00. Lighting time and crowds affect the best viewpoint; the tower, boats, and indoor venues do not extend their hours simply because the lake area remains open at night.
Get there
Arrival and local transport
Take Jinan Metro Line 2 to Daming Lake Station and walk about 10–15 minutes to the scenic area. You can also use services stopping at Daming Lake Station to enter from the northeast side. Drivers can check parking at Hongshangfang or Hengqi Plaza; the reference price is about CNY 6 per hour, with holiday congestion and limited spaces around the lake.
The south, southwest, and north gates serve different routes, so select the target gate in navigation. Walk inside the lake area; boats are the way to cross the water, and the CNY 10 island boat cannot replace the CNY 50 lake or moat boat.

Time and tickets
Lao She Memorial Hall closes on Mondays, and Chaoran Tower, boats, and lake venues have their own hours. Free park entry does not make the internal activities free; confirm whether your boat ticket is for Lixia Pavilion or for a lake or moat route.
Crowds, spending, and nearby food
Shorelines and boat piers are crowded on holidays, and the sightseeing carts are not a practical main transport option. Food and spring-water tea inside the lake area may cost more than in nearby streets, so consider Qushuiting Street, Furong Street, or Kuanhouli for a meal and check prices before ordering.
