Wetland, lotus, and bird platforms

Reeds, lotus ponds, woodland, and waterways form the main landscape, with lotus flowers at their best from June to August. Bird platforms support waterbird observation, while Swan Lake and Pigeon Square suit families and photographers. Boat rides show the reeds and lotus ponds from the water.

Leisure and transport options

The park rents single and double bicycles and electric carts, and also offers paid pleasure boats and bamboo rafts. A pleasure boat ride around the wetland takes about 40 minutes and is listed at CNY 30 per person; a bamboo raft is also about 40 minutes and listed at CNY 50 per person. Availability follows the day’s opening and water conditions.

Build your day

1–2-hour short route

Enter through the south gate, follow the main path to Swan Lake, stop at Pigeon Square and the lotus pond, and return to the south gate. When time is limited, use the park’s transport options to reduce long walks.

3–4-hour highlights route

From the south gate, walk to the east-gate boardwalk and aquatic-plant area, then continue to the bird platform, lotus shallows, and Swan Lake. Finish at a lakeside bench or lawn. A sunset visit can use the lake as the final section; boats and bicycles depend on what is open that day and your chosen pace.

Get there

Arrival and local transport

Navigate to Jixi National Wetland Park South Gate; parking is listed at CNY 10 per visit. Buses K20 and K141 reach the area, but the park is far from the city, so plan the return and a meal in advance.

The south gate is the most practical starting point. There are many waterways and paths, and map distance in a straight line is not the same as walking distance. With older visitors or children, check where bicycles, carts, and boats are operating before starting.

Practical considerations

Willow and poplar fluff can be heavy in April and May, which matters for visitors with allergic rhinitis. Shops are limited, so bring water and snacks. Apart from a small cart used to carry camping equipment, children’s bicycles, scooters, and balance bikes may not be allowed inside.

The park is free, while boats, bicycles, and electric carts charge separately. Lakeside paths, boardwalks, and lawns may be slippery after rain, so match your shoes and route to the weather and walking distance.
