Who it suits
The paths are generally gentle. Allow about 2 hours for Xuanqiu Lake and Wanye Tower or 3–4 hours for a full route. The valley suits nature, family leisure, and photography; the main red-leaf window is usually mid-October to mid-November, while an August visit shows green valley scenery and summer lilies instead.

Xuanqiu Lake and Wanye Tower
Xuanqiu Lake is good for water and reflection photos, while Wanye Tower gives a higher view over the valley and is one of the first-visit priorities. Leaf colour depends on weather and fall timing, so a higher red-season price does not guarantee that every day will show a fully red valley.
European Style Valley and Tianqu Garden
European Style Valley has flowers such as tulips in spring, while Tianqu Garden is a family-friendly place to see free-roaming peacocks. The best focus changes by season, so choose the route around flower season, red-leaf season, and weather.
Build your day
About 2-hour short route
From the entrance, follow the main path to Xuanqiu Lake, climb Wanye Tower for a valley view, and return by the same route. This works well during the busy red-leaf season or for a time-limited visit, when long queues around the lake and tower would slow the day.
3–4-hour full route
Start at Xuanqiu Lake and, if boats are operating, consider a ride. Continue to European Style Valley, Wanye Tower, and Tianqu Garden before leaving. Drivers should place parking and the return journey before the 17:00 last-entry point; food stalls and restaurants inside cost extra.

Arrival and local transport
Driving is easiest; parking is listed at CNY 20 per visit. Bus 65 from Xiba Bus Yard reaches Red Leaf Valley Station, but the stop is still about 3 kilometres of mountain road from the entrance, so you need a taxi or local shuttle. Arrange the return as well.
Navigate directly to Red Leaf Valley Scenic Area; the bus stop is not the entrance. Leave early from the city on weekends because roads toward Zhonggong can be congested.

Practical considerations
Ticket prices are seasonal, while online specials and student, child, and senior discounts depend on the current ticket type. The 2026 summer exam-candidate free-entry promotion applies only from 11 June to 31 August 2026 and is not a permanent benefit.
The best red-leaf window is usually mid-October to mid-November, but weather affects colour and leaf fall. Snacks and less common fruit inside may be expensive, so check prices before buying; wear comfortable shoes for waterside and mountain paths.
