Hours and basic costs
Current opening hours are about 08:00–17:00, with entry ending relatively early in the afternoon. The large transport boat costs about CNY 40 per person, a speedboat about CNY 280 per boat for up to seven people, and the core scenic-area ticket about CNY 70–88 per person. Visitors aged 60–69 may receive half-price admission and those aged 70 and above may qualify for free admission; confirm the applicable conditions when buying tickets. Small trains, electric carts, sightseeing boats, and rowing boats cost extra. For a same-day return, confirm the last entry and return-boat times before buying.

Lotus fields and waterside walks
The Ten-Mile Lotus Belt, Lotus Viewing Corridor, and Jiuqu Bridge Corridor are the main land-based sights on the core island. They suit photographs of lotus flowers, bridge lines, and wetland water. A summer visit does not guarantee peak bloom, so judge the flowers by the season and the day’s conditions.

The live performance The Red Guards on Honghu Lake (《洪湖赤卫队》), transport boats, rowing boats, and speedboats offer different ways to experience the water. Whether the show runs, which boat types operate, and their prices all vary with the season and the day. Visitors interested in revolutionary history can prioritize the performance, while nature photographers may prefer the lotus belt and corridors.
Who it suits
Honghu suits visitors who enjoy wetlands, summer lotus viewing, family activities, and revolutionary history. Boats and outdoor walking make up much of the visit. If you dislike sun exposure or waiting for boats, keep to the short route and use fewer optional activities.

Take a transport boat from the visitor center to the core-island wharf. Walk or take the small train to the Ten-Mile Lotus Belt, then follow the Lotus Viewing Corridor and Jiuqu Bridge Corridor. If The Red Guards on Honghu Lake is running at a suitable time, see it before or after the lotus walk, then return to the wharf for the boat off the island.
A 5–6 hour highlights route
Arrive in the morning and take the boat to the island first. Fit in The Red Guards on Honghu Lake around the day’s performance time, then spend longer on the Ten-Mile Lotus Belt and Jiuqu Bridge Corridor. If the flowers, boat schedule, and energy allow, pay about CNY 80–110 for a rowing boat into the lotus area. Have a simple meal on the island and leave according to the return-boat time.
A Qujiawan combination
If you prefer a land-based route, visit the former site of the Hunan-Hubei-West Revolutionary Base in Qujiawan after leaving the ecotourism area. This is a separate free historic village associated with China’s revolutionary history, with a separate ticket arrangement from the core island. Jinwan can be added nearby for sunset or camping, subject to your driving return time.

Driving and wharf navigation
Driving from central Jingzhou takes about 1.5–2 hours. Search for “Honghu Ecotourism Area” or “Qujiawan Town Tourist Wharf.” The visitor center has free parking, although facilities are basic. After parking, go to the wharf to confirm boat tickets, the core admission ticket, and the return-boat schedule.
Public transport and the return boat
Look for a tourist service from Jingzhou Passenger Transport Hub, but services are limited and travel takes longer. The core area depends on transport boats, so non-driving visitors should ask about the last boat when entering rather than waiting until the island visit is over.

Summer exposure is strong and shade is limited, so bring a hat, sun protection, and drinking water. Boats, corridors, and park activities may involve queues. The large boat, speedboat, core admission, rowing boat, and small in-park transport are separate products; check what each ticket includes.

The Red Guards on Honghu Lake performance, lotus conditions, rowing boats, speedboats, and transport boats all change with the season and daily operations.
