Plan at a glance
A lake district in Songzi
Weishui Scenic Area is at 8 Weishui Avenue, Dayanzui Market Town, Weishui Town, Songzi, Jingzhou. It is outside the ancient-city area. The visitor center and tourist wharf are the core entrance, and island visits begin with a boat ride. Driving from central Jingzhou takes about 1.5–2 hours, making this a practical weekend nature trip.
Basic tickets and operating times
The basic CNY 100 pass includes admission and a return boat but does not cover every island activity. A speedboat costs about CNY 120 per person, the glass slide about CNY 30, the auto-camping site about CNY 60, and Yan Jiangjun Dong (颜将军洞) about CNY 65. Current entry is about 08:30–15:00, boats run about 09:00–15:30, and Baidao Hualang (百岛画廊) usually dispatches boats on a rolling basis from about 09:00–15:00. Different island activities close at different times; Yan Jiangjun Dong runs about 08:30–17:30. Confirm the last return boat at the wharf.

The dam and Baidao Hualang
The Weishui Dam stretches for nearly 9 kilometres and is the clearest way to understand the scale of the lake district. The Baidao Hualang boat passes more than 500 islands and puts the emphasis on open water and island views. Place these two experiences before and after the island visit if you want a broad view of the area.
Nanshan Guandao, Shengtai Dao, and the cave
Climbing Nanshan Guandao (南山观岛) to Baiyun Ge (白云阁) gives a view over the lake’s island landscape. Shengtai Dao (生态岛) is better for level walking and family activities, while Yan Jiangjun Dong provides a separate cave experience reached through a mix of land and water routes. The three experiences have different walking rhythms, so plan the climb, level paths, and cave visit separately.
Who it suits
Weishui suits self-drivers, families, lake photographers, campers, and visitors interested in caves. The area is large and has many island activities. A half-day is enough for a lake-focused visit; camping or adding Yan Jiangjun Dong and Hongyan River needs one to two days.
Build your day
A half-day, approximately 4-hour route
Park at the visitor center and take a boat to the islands. Start with Nanshan Guandao, allowing about 30 minutes for the climb, then take a boat or follow the day’s route to Shengtai Dao for about two hours of level walking. Return to the wharf by boat. Keep the lake views, viewpoint, and Shengtai Dao for the short route and leave optional paid activities for a longer visit.
A 1–2 day lake combination
On the first morning, see Weishui Dam, then take the Baidao Hualang boat in the afternoon before visiting Nanshan Guandao and Shengtai Dao. At night, choose a treehouse or starry-sky camping at the auto-camping site. On the second day, drive to Yan Jiangjun Dong or arrange family outdoor activities at Hongyan River; confirm the opening status and road conditions for both separately.
A family water-play route
Make the level paths and play facilities on Shengtai Dao the main section, then move Hongyan River to the afternoon or the next day. Hongyan River is a natural water area, so use managed zones and only activities allowed that day. Do not enter the water outside the site’s operating rules, and end outdoor activities if the weather changes.
Get there
Driving and navigation
From central Jingzhou, follow the Jingsong First-Class Highway; the drive takes about 1.5–2 hours. Wuhan and Yichang visitors can approach via the expressway. Search for “Weishui Scenic Area” or “Weishui Dam,” as similar place names can send vehicles to the wrong location.
Parking and boarding
The visitor center has a car park. After parking, go to the tourist wharf to buy tickets or confirm the boat schedule, then board for the islands. Return by boat to the same wharf after the visit; plan the islands as a boat-based route rather than a drive or walk between them.
Know before you go
Boats, tickets, and time limits
Boat services may be less frequent outside holidays. Confirm the last return boat at the wharf, then use the remaining time for a speedboat, glass slide, or island activity. The CNY 100 basic pass covers admission and the return boat only; the auto-camping site, Yan Jiangjun Dong, and other experiences are extra.
Cave and summer-water safety
Yan Jiangjun Dong has different light and ground conditions from the lake area. The floor can be slippery, and bats may be present, so follow the marked path. At Hongyan River or another water area in summer, stay in managed zones and do not enter the water outside the opening rules; end outdoor activities promptly if the weather turns.
