Plan at a glance
Choose the cableway entrance or the hiking entrance first
Pingyan Cave Mansion is in Hengdian Town, Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang. It is a separate mountain and Taoist-architecture attraction, not part of Hengdian World Studios. The cableway entrance and hiking entrance are about 1 km apart, so choose your visiting method before navigating.
For the cableway, navigate to “Hengdian World Studios Pingyan Cave Mansion Scenic Area”. For the hiking route, navigate to “Pingyan Cave Mansion Scenic Area – Hiking Entrance”, near the back gate of Ming and Qing Palaces. Reference hours are 08:30–16:30, with last entry at 15:30. The cableway down service usually ends before 16:00, but follow the day’s arrangements.
Who it suits
A cableway round trip takes about 2–3 hours and suits visitors with older adults or children, or anyone who wants to reduce climbing. Taking the cableway up and walking down takes about half a day and suits visitors comfortable with stairs and downhill walking. Visitors interested in natural scenery, mountain photography and Taoist buildings can make this a separate half-day stop outside the main Hengdian parks.
The mountain route includes wet, exposed and sunlit sections. Visitors with limited mobility should first confirm that they can use the cableway safely. This is not a flat walking attraction, so assess the group’s energy for the return before entering.

Danxia cliffs, suspended paths and summit views
The main features are cliffside paths, Danxia landforms and views from the summit. In clear weather, you can look over Hengdian Town and the surrounding hills. The summit platform is suitable for stopping and taking in the view; there is no need to leave the open route to find a higher viewpoint.
The route also includes Taoist buildings such as Sanqing Hall, Yuhuang Hall and the Eight Immortals Shrine. Keep quiet around the buildings, follow photography notices and do not enter closed halls or cross barriers for a different camera angle.
Choosing how to visit
To reduce uphill walking, take the cable car from the cableway entrance to the summit, visit the open areas and return by cable car. To add hiking, take the cableway up and walk down, but remember that the descent places greater demands on the knees and stamina.
A full hiking route suits visitors who regularly walk in the mountains and can control their own pace. With older adults, young children or anyone with limited mobility, consider the stairs, suspended paths, cableway boarding and return arrangements rather than looking only at the peak height.
Build your day
A short cableway round trip
After entering through the cableway entrance, confirm that the cableway is operating. Take the cable car up, visit the suspended paths and Taoist buildings around the summit, then return by cable car according to the down-service time. Be back at the boarding point before the final downward service; do photography earlier in the route.
This route suits visitors who want mountain views without a long hike. Enclosed cars may feel hot in summer, and visitors with limited mobility may need assistance when boarding and exiting. Follow staff instructions if the on-site arrangement changes.
Cableway up and hiking down
Take the cableway up, visit the summit platform and Taoist buildings, then follow the open hiking route down and leave through the hiking entrance. Control your speed on the descent. Stop to check your footing on wet or exposed sections and do not run to save time.
This route requires transport or a pick-up between the two entrances. The hiking and cableway entrances are not the same drop-off point, so confirm where the car will be parked and collected before setting out.
Full hiking route
Enter through the hiking entrance and follow the mountain route and on-site signs upward. Visit the Taoist buildings, cliffside paths and summit views, then return along the original or another open route. Supplies are limited, so bring enough water and leave time for the descent.
If anyone develops knee pain, dizziness or difficulty walking steadily, stop in a safe place and turn back. Pingyan Cave Mansion is not a place to force completion of the route; allow time to return on the mountain path.
Get there
High-speed rail, light rail and transport within Hengdian
From Hengdian Station, reach the Ming and Qing Palace Station area and then continue by bicycle or taxi. From Yiwu Station, transfer to a bus for Hengdian and then use local transport. After arriving by public transport, arrange the final leg according to whether you chose the cableway or hiking entrance.
Enter the full entrance name when navigating. Searching only “Pingyan Cave Mansion” may send a car to the other entrance, and walking to find the correct one after arrival adds unnecessary uphill and return distance.
Driving and parking
For the cableway, navigate to “Hengdian World Studios Pingyan Cave Mansion Scenic Area”. For the hiking route, navigate to “Pingyan Cave Mansion Scenic Area – Hiking Entrance”. Parking may be visible near the village by the hiking entrance, but whether it is permitted or managed depends on the day’s on-site instructions.
Cableway round trips and one-way hiking create different vehicle-collection needs. Decide where the car will remain before choosing the route. Without a pick-up arrangement, calculate the travel time between the two entrances in advance.
Know before you go
Cableway operations and mountain safety
The cableway can be affected by weather, maintenance and operating arrangements, so keep a hiking alternative in reserve. Enclosed cars may feel hot in summer, and boarding and exiting can be difficult for visitors with limited mobility. With older adults, observe the actual boarding conditions first.
Suspended paths, stairs and mountain trails can be wet or exposed. Stay on open routes and do not cross barriers. Slow down around rainwater, fallen leaves or construction barriers, and turn back if a section cannot be crossed safely.
Supplies, weather and the return
Supplies on the mountain are limited, so carry water and a small snack. Heat, strong sun and rain affect stamina and visibility. Check the day’s conditions and avoid leaving the hottest part of the day entirely for the descent.
Pingyan Cave Mansion is geographically close to other Hengdian parks, but its entrance, ticket and movement arrangements are different. If you are also visiting Ming and Qing Palaces or another park, finish the mountain visit and confirm your return before adding the next stop.
