No. 908 Binjiang East Road and the riverside entrance
Xunyang Tower is at No. 908 Binjiang East Road in Xunyang District, Jiujiang. The entrance faces the Yangtze River; navigate to “Xunyang Tower”. The building now standing is a Song-style reconstruction from 1987. The visit focuses on its Water Margin displays and river views, not on a surviving original Song-dynasty tower.
Tickets and opening hours
The adult ticket costs about CNY 20 and no reservation is required. Opening hours are 09:00–17:30 in summer and 09:00–17:00 in winter. If you also plan to visit Suojiang Tower and Pipa Pavilion, check the three-site ticket sold on the day; under the 2026 policy, its original price is CNY 70, while visitors with a valid Lushan pass may receive the applicable CNY 35 price. The ticket covers the admission combination only; travel between the three sites still needs to be arranged separately.

Water Margin displays
The first-floor hall contains porcelain figures of the 108 Water Margin heroes and a porcelain panel depicting Song Jiang composing his rebellious poem. The second-floor Zhongyi Tang (忠义堂) and third-floor calligraphy corridor continue the theme. Visitors interested in Water Margin, classical literature or local culture can begin on the first floor and work upwards.
Song-style architecture and the Yangtze view
The fourth-floor viewing teahouse looks over the Yangtze River and the Jiujiang Yangtze River Bridge. The steps in front of the tower work for a low-angle view of the eaves and full building. After 16:00, the outside light is usually softer, giving the fourth floor and the entrance steps two different photo angles.
Who it suits
Visitors interested in Water Margin characters, the story of Song Jiang’s rebellious poem or a high river view can allow 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. If you mainly want the river, shorten the indoor visit. The wooden stairs and narrow steps affect the pace for older adults or companions who walk more slowly.
Build your day
A 30-minute short route
After entering, go straight to the fourth-floor viewing teahouse for the Yangtze River and Jiujiang Yangtze River Bridge, then go down for a quick look at the first-floor 108 heroes. This order takes about 30 minutes; leave through the riverside entrance or continue along the river.
A 1–1.5-hour highlights route
Start on the first floor with the 108 heroes and the porcelain panel depicting Song Jiang composing his rebellious poem. Continue to the second-floor Zhongyi Tang (忠义堂), third-floor calligraphy corridor and fourth-floor viewing teahouse. The floor-by-floor route takes about 1–1.5 hours; keep the narrow stair sections clear for people going up and down.
Where to finish along the river
After Xunyang Tower, return to Binjiang Road or continue to Dazhong Road Pedestrian Street or Simatou (四码头) for food. Pipa Pavilion is another Yangtze cultural stop. Shizhong Mountain is in Hukou County and needs its own transport and time; do not make it a walking extension of Xunyang District.
Get there
Bus and parking
Take Route 5, Route 82 or another bus currently serving Xunyang Tower Station, and get off at “Xunyang Tower Station”. Use a map app on the day of travel to confirm the exact route. If driving, navigate to Xunyang Tower; the car park by the attraction costs about CNY 5 for two hours, with spaces and permitted stay subject to the on-site arrangement.
From the tower to the river and city
The entrance faces the Yangtze River. After the visit, continue along Binjiang Road or return to Dazhong Road Pedestrian Street or Simatou (四码头). To visit Pipa Pavilion, use its own transport and opening hours; do not infer the walking distance from the three-site ticket.
Know before you go
Stairs and crowds
The interior uses wooden stairs and some steps are narrow. Follow the direction of the passage and do not stop at the stairhead for photos when the rooms are busy. With older adults or children, choose between the fourth-floor view and the floor-by-floor displays; an indoor visit involves repeated up-and-down movement.
Reconstructed building and ticket expectations
Xunyang Tower is a Song-style building reconstructed in 1987. The CNY 20 admission mainly covers the Water Margin exhibition and the river view from the tower. If you only want the exterior and the Yangtze, observe from the entrance; buy the indoor ticket for the 108 heroes, Zhongyi Tang (忠义堂) and fourth-floor teahouse.
Food and other riverside stops
Dazhong Road Pedestrian Street and Simatou (四码头) have snacks such as Luobo Bing (萝卜饼) and Maci (麻糍). Decide after eating whether to continue along the river. Pipa Pavilion covers the Pipa Xing theme exhibition and the stringless pipa; Shizhong Mountain is in Hukou County and should be planned as a separate Hukou trip.
