“A Glimpse of Ten Thousand Years”
The first-floor exhibition follows local history from the Paleolithic period through the Liao and Jin periods. Look for the bone-carved eagle head from the Xinkailiu Culture and the ancient animal fossils. The mammoth skeleton is another highlight for families and visitors interested in archaeology or prehistoric animals.
If a children's activity is running that day, ask at the museum before planning around it. Activities are not guaranteed.
“Black Soil Songs”
The second-floor exhibition focuses on Jixi's modern history. It includes anti-Japanese resistance artifacts, military equipment, farming and reclamation tools, and displays about the coal industry and the development of the Great Northern Wilderness.
Visitors mainly interested in Jixi's industrial and modern history can make this floor the priority. Those interested in early settlements and prehistoric animals should also keep time for the first floor.
