How to Visit
1

Choose between a lakeside day and a Bingling Temple boat day

The resort covers lakeside areas, wetlands, Danxia scenery, family facilities and water activities. It is not one single-ticket attraction.

Tip:If Bingling Temple is the priority, make the boat journey and grotto visit the whole day's main plan rather than adding many scattered stops.
2

Use the pier shown on your valid sailing ticket

The round-trip boat to Bingling Temple is a separate add-on. Departure piers can vary by season, product and operator.

Tip:Do not travel to a fixed pier based on an old guide. Follow the pier, meeting time and return rules printed on the ticket for your travel date.
3

Leave a weather buffer for any water activity

Lake sailings depend on wind, rain, visibility, water conditions and navigation safety. A service adjustment may be more than a short delay.

Tip:Do not schedule water activities just before a connection with a strict last bus, train or flight.
4

Choose one land-based focus instead of doing the whole lake

Pick one or two directions among the Yellow River-Tao River confluence viewpoint, Taiji Island Wetland, Yellow River Flower Embankment and the Danxia lakeshore.

Tip:The contrast between the two rivers' water colours depends on water conditions and weather; it is not guaranteed on every visit.
5

Use two days for a slower visit

Use one day for the lakeside or Bingling Temple boat journey, then a second for wetlands, greenways, the geopark or evening activities.

Tip:Water activities, night cruises, bike rental and family facilities each keep separate hours and safety rules; do not treat the resort's overall description as their operating schedule.
Highlights
  • The lake, Danxia cliffs and Yellow River gorges create Liujiaxia's most distinctive water-and-land scenery.
  • Bingling Temple Grottoes offer a cultural deep dive, but require separate planning for boats, return timing and special caves.
  • The Yellow River-Tao River confluence viewpoint offers an angle on changing water colours and valley landforms.
  • Taiji Island Wetland, the Yellow River Flower Embankment and riverside greenways suit low-intensity walks, cycling or family stops.
  • An overnight stay separates daytime lake views from evening riverside experiences and avoids rushing between boats and road transfers.
Insider Tips

The resort area should not be treated as a single paid attraction. Budget separately for boats, grotto admission, water activities, accommodation and individual venues.

From Lanzhou, a private car, self-drive trip or reserved shuttle is usually easier than piecing together local transfers between distant stops.

Round-trip boats from Donggan Pier to Bingling Temple are offered as separate tickets, but departure details can change by date.

Daytime sun is strong around the lake, while mornings and evenings can feel much cooler. Bring sun protection, a light outer layer and non-slip shoes.

Do not use privately solicited boats without clear safety credentials, life-saving equipment and a confirmed return arrangement.
