Location, ticket and operating arrangements

Liandao Scenic Area (连岛景区) is on Liandao in Lianyun District. The main entrance and transfer point are at Dashawan Visitor Centre. An adult ticket costs CNY 50 from May 1 to October 31 and CNY 30 from November 1 to April 30. Buying online one day ahead often brings the price to about CNY 45. One ticket can be used for two days within the applicable rules. The sightseeing vehicle costs CNY 20 per person, allows unlimited rides on the day of purchase and does not carry over with the two-day admission ticket.

How much time to allow

Allow 2–3 hours for a direct trip from the visitor centre to Sumawan and back. A route combining Dashawan, the coastal boardwalk and Sumawan takes about 4–5 hours. The listed peak-season operating window is around 08:30–17:30, and clearance may begin around 17:00, so leave time for the last transfer and exit.

Choose your visit

Dashawan, the coastal boardwalk and Sumawan

Dashawan is the main transfer and beach-play area after you enter the island. Sumawan has clearer water, a beach, Peacock Garden and a seaside swing, so it suits a longer stop. The two areas are connected by the sightseeing vehicle; visitors with enough energy and suitable weather can also walk the coastal boardwalk.

Seaside views and photography

The coastal boardwalk gives you a half-mountain, half-sea viewpoint. Sumawan's beach and swing are also clear photography stops. Liandao suits visitors who want a classic seaside outing, beach time, coastal walking or sea photography. Families should include extra time for transfers and rest.

How to use the island's main stops

The island route can combine Dashawan, the coastal boardwalk, Peacock Garden and Sumawan. Dashawan is useful for the transfer and a short beach stop; Sumawan deserves more time. If your schedule is tight, ride directly to Sumawan, then return by vehicle rather than forcing a long walk.

Build your day

A 2–3 hour quick route

From the visitor centre, take the sightseeing vehicle directly to Sumawan. Explore the beach and nearby stops, then ride back to the visitor centre. This works for visitors with limited time or anyone who does not want a long boardwalk walk, but keep the last vehicle and clearance time in mind.

A 4–5 hour route for a first visit

Take the transfer from the visitor centre to Dashawan for a short beach stop. Walk about 2.5 kilometres along the coastal boardwalk to Sumawan, then return by sightseeing vehicle. Wind, steps and sun can make the walk tiring; families or visitors carrying beach equipment can ride instead.

Two-day admission and one-day transport

The admission ticket can be used for two days under the one-ticket arrangement, while the sightseeing vehicle is valid only on the day it is purchased. On a second day, plan island transport again rather than assuming the vehicle ticket follows the admission ticket.

Get there

Transfer and parking

Drivers should navigate to Liandao Visitor Centre, park close to the transfer point and enter by sightseeing vehicle or small train. Do not follow roadside approaches that promise “free parking” without checking the walking distance; some spaces are far from the transfer point. The visitor-centre car park is the more practical choice.

Moving around the island

The sightseeing vehicle links the visitor centre, Dashawan, Peacock Garden and Sumawan, with unlimited rides on the same day. Before walking the coastal boardwalk, confirm the return vehicle period and your group's energy level, then choose where to board again.

Know before you go

Crowds, clearance and seaside weather

Beaches and transfer points become crowded during public holidays, and queues can change the pace of the visit. Sun and wind can change quickly along the coast, so bring water, sun protection and shoes suitable for the boardwalk.

Food and shopping

Food on the island is usually more expensive than in the city. Buy seafood products and souvenirs carefully. For a more practical seafood meal, leave the island for the Xugou residential area or local food streets; Wanghai Lou and Jiadefu Haitang branch are listed nearby options.

Dogs and beach safety

You may encounter unattended dogs inside the scenic area, so keep children at a safe distance. Stay within the open beach areas and do not move toward dangerous water just for a photograph.
