Street district, admission and opening hours
Lianyungang Old Street (连云港老街), also called Lianyun Old Street or Lianyun Ancient Town, is at No. 115 Shengli Road in Lianyun District. It is a hillside port district of stone buildings and Republican-era architecture. The street area is free and can be visited all day. The Longhai Railway History Museum and other indoor venues may charge separately; the listed price is about CNY 50 for a combination ticket or CNY 15 for one hall. Some venues may close on Mondays, even though the street itself remains open.
How much time to allow
Allow 1.5–2 hours for the old station, Clock Tower, Shanghai Grand Hotel, Youju Lane and the church. A fuller route takes 3–4 hours if you add the Longhai railway museum, Guochengli lanes, Huanghailu food street, Hundred-step Stairway and Yuntai Viewpoint. The district is built on a slope, with stone paving and steps.

The railway museum and old station
The Longhai Railway History Museum occupies the old railway station and has three floors. It follows the railway story through old photographs, rail tracks and related material. Visitors interested in railway history, port-city development and modern transport should put it near the start of the daytime route.
Shanghai Grand Hotel, Clock Tower and church
Shanghai Grand Hotel is a representative 1930s building and was once the site of the Republican-era municipal government. The Clock Tower and church are good stops for façades and street space. The church's red brick and ivy-covered walls give the old street one of its clearer photo backgrounds.
Youju Lane, Hundred-step Stairway and Yuntai Viewpoint
Youju Lane has cat-themed shops, craft stores and graffiti walls. The Hundred-step Stairway climbs past old houses, while Yuntai Viewpoint looks over the port, red roofs and the harbour sunset. The district suits visitors interested in historic buildings, photography, quiet walks and pet-friendly outings.
Build your day
A 1.5–2 hour quick route
Old Street Archway → Longhai Railway Old Station → Clock Tower → Shanghai Grand Hotel → Youju Lane (Limin Lane) → Church. Start with the railway and Republican-era buildings, then move into the smaller lanes and finish at the church.
A 3–4 hour heritage route
Archway → Longhai Railway History Museum → Clock Tower → Shanghai Grand Hotel → Guochengli lanes → Huanghailu food street → Hundred-step Stairway → Yuntai Viewpoint. Put the museum first, then walk the slope and viewpoints later in the afternoon to avoid the strongest sun and connect with the harbour sunset.
Old buildings, sea views and food
The old street is a historic district rather than a beach. Use Yuntai Viewpoint for the port and sea view, then go toward Zaihaiyifang Park or the Xugou seafood market for a fuller seafood meal. There is no need to fit every coastal stop into the same old-street walk.
Get there
Bus and driving
Take B1 or B1K to Zaihaiyifang Park and change to B13, or take bus 31 directly to the Lianyun Ancient Town stop. Drivers can navigate to Lianyungang Old Street; a free car park is available near the entrance, though spaces may be tight on holidays.
Moving through the district
The old street uses stone paving, slopes and steps, so wear shoes with good grip. Park at the entrance and walk. The Hundred-step Stairway and Yuntai Viewpoint are not suitable for high heels or loose sandals.
Know before you go
Crowds and photography time
Weekends are busier, while weekdays are better for a slow walk. Early morning suits empty-street and building photographs. After 16:00 the light is softer and there may be a chance to see the harbour sunset. Cats and shop opening times in Youju Lane change, so individual shops are not guaranteed daily stops.
Food choices
The old street has seafood restaurants and snacks, including local cold noodles and “wawayu” snacks. For a more substantial seafood meal, consider Xian Zhanggui near Zaihaiyifang Park or the Xugou seafood market. Buji Coffee, Lao Sun Wawayu, Dan Jie Liangfen, Old Street Canteen and Chuanwazi Spicy Chicken are listed options for a rest or casual meal.
Nearby combinations
Yuntai Mountain by the Sea is close and works for a port-and-mountain panorama. Liandao is better when you want a longer beach visit, while Zaihaiyifang Park is a free waterfront walk. Plan the connections around the return journey and walking load rather than trying to complete every attraction in one day.
